Just noticed that when I open the door of my coop all the needles in the speedo vibrate, it stops when I close it.

Is this normal or has my car been taken over by an evil force?

doesnt Zimbo have this problem too? i dont know what the solution is though but JC's blamed it on wiring done by Zimbo, which i thnk its sh*te. have you dont anything electrical mod wise?

Only replaced the stereo but that just used a standard bmw to iso connector.

paul my sisters cooper does exactly the same,

when you opened her door the speedo kept jumpin up and down between 0 and 10 mph but it only happened when you opened the drivers door

Mine did it occassionally when you started up but not on opening the door.

Worth reporting to the dealer but maybe not worth asking for it to be fixed.

My needles sometimes rattle when starting also, appears to depend on the state of charge of the battery. If the car has been left for a few days then the rattle of the fuel and temp gauges is more likely to happen when starting the engine. Also heard that if the battery terminal is slack the same effect takes place. I have never seen the needles vibrate when opening the door though.

My car did this for the first time this morning too - did it when opening either door - did anyone get a result from their dealer on this?

Jerky dials is usually always related to an undercharged battery due to little mileage being covered.
Mostly only happens when starting as far is I was aware?
Could be related to the interior lights coming on?

minime - click on his name and the truth shall be told! :D

My dials did it whilst averaging 300 miles a week - with no battery drain or problems starting!

I have not ever heard of dials jumping when doors are opened?

I have only ever seen an undercharged battery cause a buzzing noise and jumping dials when turning over starter.
