You can use one of the latest scan gauges or a Wi-Fi OBD reader ,where are you located .and more importantly what has caused it to come on ....

I'm from bathgate. I took it to the local garage and was told it was the spark plugs that were done so I got them changed but the guy doesn't have the equipment to turn the light off. The noise I was hearing was a heat shield that had come loose.

I'm in Livingston and have diagnostic equipment that I use on my Minis and other cars I fix. If you haven't got the light put out feel free to drop me a PM and we can sort something out and try to resolve the problem

I havent been home much because of work. I bave been told that you get diagnostic codes but would the eml need to be on to get the code or will it hold the code till the computer is reset.

If the eml comes on then it should hold the code. My R50's eml would sometimes come on and it was just a dodgy 02 sensor after the cat. I replaced the sensor then wiped the code and its never came back on

The power seems fine and ther isnt any signs of anything serious being wrong. Do you know how to get into the codes ?
