is it really necessary to clay the entire car if i am going to polish it ? my arm is still fubar from yesterday :sad:

Yes if you want the best results
Invest in a clay mit you can do the car in 1/4 of the time and a lot less hassle

I'm not too keen on flaying so I just hit mine with a big stick instead.

Think this has been answered then .. You only need to clay every year though or when the paint starts to feel rough again. Just mind though it's a light pressure on it and you can tell if the paint needs done by putting a thin plastic bag over your hand and rubbing it over the paint. You'll feel it better doing it that way. :)
