R53 head gasket failure

My m8 just phoned. He purchased a r53 from the auctions and says the head is goosed. Using all coolant. And says it's new expansion tank and lid. So I tend to agree then with him. Any ideas and who cheapest or best option for him.

It'll depend on what damage has been done and where.
Sometimes it's cheaper to buy a new or reconditioned head than sort the old one ..
John had his done and will probably be along shortly to give you a price. That was fitted by our local garage.
Has he checked the pipes or radiator before assuming that it's the head that's away.
Maybe that's why it was at the auctions too though Eddie ...

Move to correct section. As above better to inspect and see how much damage there is before deciding on repairing or getting a new/ reconditioned
