Scottish Car Show 19th July 2015

[MINI William]

There has been a lot of interest in NMS attending this year Scottish Car Show, so let's get started.

NMS will be attending the show being held at the Royal Highland Centre again and we will be having our usual BBQ (Goes without saying really).

As always everyone is welcome, if you haven't been to a show with NMS get along to this as its local and catch the show bug. Its not about the cars but about the day as a whole.

I will need to collect money shortly to ensure that we have get a stand and also to allow any passengers to get in at the early booking prices. ALL MONEY IS NON REFUNDABLE

I now have prices for the show. It is £10 per Driver and Car and £10 per Passenger. I need to have our booking confirmed for April so can I please have all money paid to me buy the 22nd of March, which will allow enough time to get our stand booked. I can collect money at any of our events before this or can be sent a PayPal gift or a cheque. Can I also please stress at this time any and all money is NON REFUNDABLE.

Due to the show filling up quickly and I don't want us to miss out Can I ask for everyone to get money to me on/ by the 1st of Febuary

We all had a chat at the last Scottish car show and all agreed that we as car groups should stick together and try and make things better ,but it's now another year

The plan is to meet at Hermiston Gate for 730 to depart for the show at 745.

We must all enter as a group and if you are not at Hermiston Gate for 745 we will leave without you. If you are going to be late for whatever reason please let me know so we can see what we can do. Harsh but I can't allow for the group to be effected and run the risk of not getting in to the show

Well ,started the prep for Sunday ,van snow foamed (not been near it since MMM) Iron X on the wheels and it's looking no bad, will snow foam (again) and wash and finish Fri/Sat ,oh and Gazebo loaded,banner /Flags loaded as well

A huge thanks to everyone who came along today and showing everyone what NMS is all about. Also a huge thanks to Chef Malcolm and Mom for their feeding the troops fest (literally).

I have to say this is our most successful SCS to date with the display of cars we had on the stand with lots of secret mods and also a secret car. We were talking to other MINI owners throughout the day and I've already approved 3 new members, which in my eyes is a huge success so everyone please give yourselfs a pat on the back. Great to see the usual faces and also new and returning faces to NMS.

Once again a great day had by both of us. Today was great, it's the first Scottish car show I have been to where I didn't want to go look at every single car because I was having such a great time in the company of great friends.

It's crazy to think... Last SCS was my first show. I had never had any of my cars on a stand before and I was panicking that it wasn't perfect, it was, after all the car was just under 1 year old and it hadn't been on many runs, now? I do like my car to be presentable but I don't care it's not perfect visually (with its array of stone chips, it just reminds me how much fun I have had with you lot on runs, tours and the likes... :)I'm still pretty sure if you looked inside you'd find glitter even though it's had Henry attack it several times since :lol: today was just another great day that I'll never forget! thank you everyone.

It's pointless even asking if I'm going next year :yes nod:

A big thank you to William for organising SCS again, it can't be easy but everything went smoothly and you can't ask for anymore than that.

Also a big thank you to everyone who brought food and drink, who cooked and prepared rolls that's what makes NMS great and I'm sure that no other club stand there would've had as much as we had. And a special mention to our southern branch who made the long trip up to be with us, wouldn't be the same without you Pete.

Like Eddie last year was my first SCS, in fact it was my first car show ever, now I enjoy these weekends more than any others in the NMS calendar. I know my car won't ever be the cleanest on display and I know I'll get ribbed about it by certain people but hey that's what makes it such a fun day.

A most excellent day out and good that the worst of the weather held off until later in the day. Looking around we had a fantastic display. There were some interesting modifications elsewhere at the show - both cars and some of their owners by the looks of things!

Well what a weekend that was ,started early on Saturday with the arrival of our guests in the morning ,bit of cleaning of the cars going to the SCS ,and then a bit of leasure time and then off to the local Indian for a rather nice meal and a bit of a bleather ,then home for an early night :laugh:(not) ,up early to meet with everyone and off to the show.
We have done the SCS for a few years ,but this one was different ,most people did not wander to far and spent a lot of time answering questions from potential new members ,returning members and just people visiting the car show.Such an impression of our club can only come from within ,and thank you very much for your efforts as all the people that I saw went away with a very positive view of NMS and its members :thumbs up:, a few people also got that what we do is more than the car show its self and its more of an all round social event with a bit of cleaning of the cars .....and a lot of talking and a lot of eating ,which brings me on to the next point .
Thank you to everyone who brought food/drinks/sweets/crisps and also to Tam for helping out on his first visit to an NMS outing ,Malcolm was very much (as always) stuck with the cooking (which as always top notch) and its nice to see others helping , Thanks to all the Girls of NMS who got stuck in and put every thing out and tidied up at the end ,we left a clean pitch which could not be said of others :yes nod:. I have got to mention Neil (Digi ) who kindly asked his boss for donations to the massive amount that Mom and Dad supplied (as always ) ,so to Mom ,Dad and Neil thank you very much ..it is appreciated .
Sunday after the show a few of us went for an Italian meal ,we have used this restaurant for a while and have never been let down by either food or the staff ,food was great but the banter with one of the waiters was off the scale and everyone will not forget Eddies cup of coffee :hand:.Home to bed for me as I was working but the rest stayed for a while and Pete ,Kat , Davy and Christina went to their beds a bit later. To all that had a part in this week end either in attending or helping or just adding to the fun or those that want to join in ....thank you very much, this is what defines our club ,and the way in which others view newMINI Scotland which if Sunday is anything to go by we are all doing not too bad .:yes nod:

the only part of the show that I got wrong was I left the I pad in the house ,so if you have pics ,get them posted up please.If I have forgotten anyone ...my apologies :blush:
