Hey guys, considering getting my Cooper s remapped by hybrid performance remapping as the mini challenge cars use their maps and was just curious to hear if anyone had used them?

The chap claims he can give 41hp 53nm and get rid of flat spots and increase responsivness

You'll not get 41bhp out of a remap on an R53

I admit I was shocked when he said how much, I suspect he may be referring to the mini challenge cars

The mini challenge cars (R50/R53) still won't give that much as they're very similar to the road versions.
I got 20bhp with a cam and a remap, and from looking at other builds that seems pretty standard

Gained 25 here with an aggressive cam and remap, mapping done within safe limits.
41 gain just from a map is very doubtful to be honest.

I'm not sure wether he thinks it's an R56 as you will get that kind of power from a remap with that !!

Yeah that would explain it as when I asked if he could back up his claims he sent me a link to a thread on minitorque with 14 pages of positive feedback and some dyno sheets but all for r56

Just to summarise for anyone not aware:
R53 - a remap is a good idea, but only once you've finished all other mods. It ties them together nicely and improves driveability, but not worth it on its own. The R53 responds best to old - fashioned mechanical tuning.
R56 - completely different. You can get decent power that would satisfy most people with just a remap, a bit more with limited mods.
