OK guys and girls, after a discussion with the Admins, I've decided to start a regular meeting on a Sunday through the winter as this is generally when we have less runs. This allows us to meet, chat, show off any new mods etc.

The first one will be at Dobbies Garden Centre in Perth, just off the bypass. Meet at 10:30 for a coffee, maybe a bit or cake or scone.! I've selected a bit further north as we have quite a few new members from the north and I'd like them to feel included. We will move these around the country so everyone should be able to make a few. :)

Anyway, stick your name down.... This will be a very informal meet. ;)

Firstly a massive thanks to Craig for arranging this and everyone that attended this especially given the weather conditions .. Hats off to you all for making the journey and the cars looked great even after driving through the torrential rain to get to Perth. It's this sort of effort that keeps the club going from strength to strength and allows us to continue organising these sort of events.
Hope all the clothing was OK and it was great to see what folk had ordered as it allows us to get a better picture of what's being ordered. William I think you're going to have to get Megan her own hoody though !!
It was great to catch up with friends old and new and meet a few for the first time. Sorry if I never got a proper chance to speak to you all I just ran out of time.
Maybe the next time we should contact the "venue" and see if they'll set an area aside for us all to be together it might make things easier (just a thought) ..
Spud the cheques in the post for taking on the role of the big fellas carer although not sure that was a good idea letting you hang about with him given the ideas you have for the wee buggy now !
Great to see mum and dad again, on top form as always ...
Breakfast was great and well worth the money and if you're ever stopping by again I can highly recommend the rocky road, aero mint cake, strawberry tart and crunchie chocbar !!!
I await with baited breath to see what Megan does with her bird cage ...
Great run from Perth to Kirkcaldy and a massive thanks to the foreign driver that let us all out of the junction at the road works traffic lights. Eddie JCW think you forgot you were in the MINI when you took that massive swing at the junction lol.
All in all an enjoyable run to our site sponsors and to check out the new 5 door MINI.
After a swift look about it I'm not sure what market they have for the car .. Yes the seats and dash and cracking and there's something about the door cards but the extra doors I can see serve no real purpose. They don't give any extra benefit IMO and I'll be interested to hear other views especially owners as to how they fair with the extra doors. The rubber finish around the top of the doors looks cheap and I'm not sure it's a step back from previous models .. change for change sake ?
Would I buy one ? No ... Think I'd buy a countryman if I needed the extra doors / space .. but it's a now a line up in the MINI brand so I'll accept that but also accept that it's not my cup of tea.
Thought I was going to be driving the beast home for mum and dad whilst they followed in the Porsche at one point !
I also think that HF need to sort out the car quality on the forecourt as the birds are clearly a problem and won't help attract buyers given the state of the cars paintwork. I was sweating like mad watching the paint get eaten away by the bird droppings ... not attractive either for prospective buyers.
William and Megan sorry you had to dash away but hope you got the oldies from the airport .. although I thought you were cutting it fine William leaving with only 20 minutes to get there !! :)
We left Dave and Fiona talking cars to the salesman so watch this space will there be another new MINI heading this way :)
Cheers to the big fella and Spud for the company home .. fingers crossed the camera van didn't get our registrations lol. The S was on top form today too couldn't believe how well that thing pulls even in the wet !
Once again a massive thanks to you all for another great day out and I'll post a few photos shortly for those that are interested ..

Really enjoyed today and can recommend the strawberry tart - makes a good brekkie along with a bacon roll :thumbs up:

While the 5 door is a nice car, and no doubt will sell well, it's just not for me. Apart from the obvious that I wouldn't actually be able to drive it properly (pillar blocks my view), it just doesn't seem to be as practical as it should be. The back doors are too small for any normal sized adult to get in comfortably without practising some sort of yoga first. Like Davy if I was in the market for a bigger MINI, I'd be looking towards the Countryman - couple of nice JCW's dotted around today :)

Looking forward to the next one already.

As for the 5 door I can see why it's in the range but it's not the car I'd have if I needed a bigger car, like the others have said I'd also have the Countryman (in JCW form if you couldn't tell today :P )

Davy, I drive the same no matter what vehicle I'm in, you should see the passengers faces when I drive the bus like the JCW :lol: you'd be surprised how well they handle and stop for the size and weight of them :smilewinkgrin:

A huge thank to Crsig for organising today and also to HF for having us along for the 5 door launch and to Daryl for leading the way to the garage. Great to have the usual faces along and some new ones, I hope I managed to get round you all. Great laughs today which is what these kind of meets are about. Sorry we had to dash off so soon to collect the oldies, turns out we could have stayed a touch longer as their flight was delayed.

No Daryl you're right .. Some of us find it easier than others as we've been doing it for a number of years now but it's never easy. I thought you did very well today getting the gang from Perth to Kirkcaldy. The secret is not in being in the lead it's having a few experienced folk in the middle of the pack too that'll help out. Lots would have overtaken the slower moving cars splitting the group but you ensured everyone stayed together .. :)

Re the Bird problem at Harry Fairbairn. The birds congregate around the pylons at the site. Its a real nightmare especially the damage being caused to cars.

Dave and the team are all over this and there are some plans in place for removing the birds.
