Just thought I'd share my thoughts after some recent work to my 2003 R53 JCW.

I changed the standard bushes for powerflex items this week, including the fitting kit. Well I didn't, E Burgoynes in Airth did.

What a difference, my car used to pull to the side under acceleration if the steering was anything other than straight ahead. This has gone.

I used to get a slight notichiness in the steering when turning the wheel, usually at just parking speeds. I put this down to a slightly worn steering column / rack. This has now also totally gone.

I also used to get a bit of wallow around cornets, but as I've got reasonably high profile Parada Spec II tyres on (195/50/15) that are know for soft sidewalls I thought that was just down to them, but no, this has also disappeared.

Sounds a bit like snake oil I know, but what an amazing difference new bushes have made.

Downsides, yes, slightly more road noise, but not too bad. I guess new standard bushes would have had the same effects without the noise.

Great news John :). It's on my "to do" list with the Conv at some point. Glad your driveability issues are over :)

Got mine already bought and in the spares department maybe I'll need to get them fitted sooner rather than later ! Did you use the power flex kits (purple) if so which ones did you use ?

Powerflex (PFF5-101) Front Wishbone Rear Bush & Powerflex (PFF5-101MS) Support Kit. Purple not Black.

They had to drill and tap my wishbones to fit the support kit. This kit is advised for trackdays, clearly not me, but I read reports online where without the support kit the bushes had failed quite quickly, so I thought better safe than sorry. £15 insurance against a new set of bushes and another helping of labour. Not that I mind going in to Burgoynes, genuinely a garage where I don't begrudge paying for their time and expertise, great people.
