The above has no specific date, as of yet, but M.T.T.S. normally takes place July/August time.

This is a Coast to Coast MINI/Mini run across America.

This years run is detailed below:

http://www.minitakesthestates.com/welcome

It is run every two years with the next one scheduled for 2016.

We only have a few details at present but more will be added as and when they become available.

Myself and Catherine along with Pete and his good lady are up for this and wondered if anyone else would be interested ?

The journey takes 2 weeks in total travelling from the west coast to the east coast. If you didn't fancy doing the whole trip MINI clubs and members join in / drop out at various points along the route. To take part in the various organised events along the route you need to be registered but that takes place a few months prior to the tour starting and costs in the region of $45 per person.

Rough costings at the moment are in the region of £3K per couple.

I've posted this up now because I know that things on this scale take a lot of planning and 2 years comes round very quickly.

Fingers crossed we make it back in time for MITP :):)

(Pete hope you don't mind I took this from your posting on the GP site)

Looks completely awesome! However, there's no way we can take two weeks off in July/August. :ragin:

May have a think about doing our own trip like that one day though.

I would love to do this but this looks to be around the time we are getting married.

No problem about you copying the post at all Davy.
If it saved you typing it out again, all is good.

Forgive my stupidity but is this in your own car and is shipping included in the 3k estimate?

No, we are looking at hiring MINI's to do it hence the two year planning.
The cost of shipping over our own cars is about £1400 return but then there's the paperwork and U.S. import taxes so hiring is the best option.

The £3K is for flights, hire, hotels, food, petrol etc etc.

I did a 2.5K roadtrip in the U.S. in Feb and I've roughly worked out the prices from what I spent then.

Haha I can imagine Rachael's reaction if I was to tell her that was our honeymoon.... Divorce  but I could tell her I would take her shopping in NY and I'm sure she'd change her mind :yes nod:. And there was me thinking my JCW was the most expensive part of my life :frown:
