Hi guys and girls
New to mini ownership,I have a 2006 R53 Cooper S . So far I love it apart from the MPG!!! My old subaru did better.
Love the handling but looking for a bit more power .Ive done a few things so far, new bypass valve, stainless exhaust, jcw wheels and a full service inc some bushes to sort the handling a bit.
It comes with the twin glass roof, xenons, roof rack and a few other bits and bobs.
The clutch takes a bit of getting used too ( heavy and low biting point) but I'm getting used to it.
Once it has a bit more go about it im sure it will be a great laugh.Ill try to post a pic when I figure it out

:welcome: firstly I don't know about the R53 but I know my Subaru WRX wagon(hawk-eye 56 plate) was averaging 20mpg (mainly motorway :O and my JCW is getting average 31mpg but that's me about the town during the week and blasting all over the country at weekends so I could easily get it higher.

I know the R53 isn't going to be at either end of that scale but I'd expect it to be about halfway between the 2 for a standard healthy Cooper S, a few R53 owners should be able to help you out.

What you have to remember is the MINI is about as fun as the Impreza if not more so because it's not a road-going rally car but it's a helluva nicer place to be with its creature comforts and no wafer thin Japanese plastics to be seen :)

Hi and welcome along ..
I wouldn't say that my R53 is any worse than I've had from cars before. I'm not sure what I get mpg wise but I know if I've been blasting about as the mpg certainly drops somewhat. :)

Wow, 2 pages of welcomes! Maybe im driving it wrong or its not as healthy as I thought (48000miles) but its showing 23.9mpg just now with mixed driving. The best i got was 28mpg driving like a nun.Its still better than the Scoobs were anyway (12-18mpg from sti Forester non standard, litchfield hawkeye and heavily modded bugeye) but I know you don't run a mcs for economy .
Ill look out for a local meet and pop along.
Thanks for the warm welcome :)

:welcome: I used to get 27mpg from my 2006 R53 just from my daily commute, mostly motorway. So if you boot it your figure will only go further south

I'll see what figures the MAF is giving other than that im not sure as there's no fault codes on it.
Just fitted Kumho ku39 xl's to the front in an effort to reduce tramlining and comfort and it certainly has made a marked improvement in both in the short drive it got today.I personally hate run flat tyres.Got the Aircon serviced and recharged today too at a specialist and it lovely and cold.
Time for roof open, windows down listen to the pops and bangs on the way home. :)

Wouldn't be the first time a Mini has been traded into a dealer whereby they were not aware of some mods
