Hi all, it is my solemn duty to announce the demise of my r53'wee beastie'. A tyre blew on the m6 near tebay this afternoon, the car spun across all 3 lanes and hit the barrier on the shoulder and bounced back into lane 1. Thank God we didnt hit anything else and neither of us even got a scratch, but the car is scrap. So going to need a new one, jcw this time. Seen a couple i like.521352145215

Sorry to read this Jonnie. Really pleased no one was hurt. Like others have said, metal can be replaced, lives can not.

Wow! Fantastic that no injuries were sustained by anyone.

Could you let us know what the tyres were like? Were they run flats or normal? New or old? Premium brand or cheaper?

Thanks.

Thanks all. Ken tyres were non rf, cheaper end and were less than 2 months old. Unknown if it failed or if something on the carriageway affected it.

The fact that you are safe & well says it all. A sad ending for your MINI but it looks as if it did it's last job well

Glad you are ok.

Minis are very tough indeed. I had a very heavy accident back in 2003 in an R50 and I came away not too bad, if I was in any other small car I suspect I wouldnt be here.

Just clocked this! Glad you are both OK :thumbs up: :phew:
Total shame about the car, but it gave its last breath protecting its occupants - a noble demise. R.I.P. R53.
Have you stopped shaking yet?
