My R50 race car with standard fuel system is getting fuel surge with 5.5L of fuel in it, which i know it shouldnt.

I assumed it must have had 2 fuel pumps in the tank due to the saddle tank, but now ive removed them its some mad looking setup with only one pump, pipes linking each side and 2 sender units.

How does this all work?

When i removed them, the grey pipe was popped off of the top of the passenger side pump unit, im not sure exactly what that pipe does but it looks to feed back from the drivers side unit and directly into the fuel pump bowl.

I also directly ran a feed to the pump when it was removed and instead of pumping out the outlet pipe it was spraying fuel out a small hole on top of the pump itself, is that normal?

Anyone enlighten me, i need to understand how it works before i can see if/ where i have a problem!
