Hi all. Just fitted an omp front upper brace and it seems to make the bonnet bulge along the top edge under the screen. The brace came off an 02 mcs and i wa informed it would fit my 04 car. can anyone help?

Hi Jonnie
This is a common problem with the OMP brace I know people that have had them cut a re welded so they fit better

Also your strut towers may have mushroomed slightly which won't help

I don't mean to be stupid (probably will be) but did you try fitting it the other way see if it makes any difference ? It seems crazy that a company such as OMP would make a strut brace that didn't really fit .. was just a thought ..

Other thought is sound proofing is fairly thick so possibly have to remove that ?

The strut towers deform, mushrooming up. This would make any brace closer to the bonnet.
To fix mine, I got the car in the air, dropped the strut, then bashed the tops of the towers back down

Or soak it with water before you shut the bonnet - it then takes the shape of the brace
