View Full Version : R53 Wrapping

I've got an opportunity to wrap my R53 and I'm looking for people's thoughts on finer detail choices. The current colour scheme is DS with a white roof and mirrors. I'm looking at fitting an aero grill soon no matter what.

I'm looking at French Racing Blue as per my previous Clio

but my current thinking is to leave the roof and mirrors white and de-chrome handles, fuel filler, light surrounds, waist line and side vents. However, willing to seek advice on this, i.e keep chrome, colour roof to match body etc.

Wheels will also hopefully also be changing, but that's another step away.

Thoughts?

Estoril blue. Black mirrors and wheels to tie in with grills :)

Is that the BMW M colour?

I hadn't even considered a deep blue. Just Googled it, looks good. Also just found a pearl white which might look nice with a black roof. Too many choices.

I was set on copying my Clio colour, but the more I look, the more I like.

Personally John if it was me I wouldn't do it but I know you ...
So, for what it's worth I'd go totally mental with something like orange or candy red you'll want it to get noticed so go crazy ;)

Aye - we both know John doesn't take advice about MINI's Davy

What do you mean?

I've only ever bought 2 pre-facelifts, both with expensive issues and changed my 17" rims for 15s after being advised to buy a facelift and keep the proper sized wheels.

On reflection, you may have something :-)

Easy choice I'd be going winter camo with black roof and mirrors. If your just going a normal colour I feel it's better to paint it. The advantage of wraps is the ability to do stuff that would be too difficult and pricy to do with paint. I love the urban/winter camo look :)

Something like this.....

Im a fan of the camo but i think if it was my car id go for a matte blue body/ black roof combo.

I like matt black, but it's quite common, as in I've seen it on lots of cars rather than chavvy

wrapping seems the way forward but one of my workmates has had her car professionally wrapped and has had such a bad experience that she wishes she had got the car resprayed instead

Risky business John like I mentioned in my PM .. better leaving it as is or maybe re spraying it if you fancy a colour change :)

wont mention the people that did it but the car has been back 3 times the first time was after the first trip down south and back up, the wrap at the front was badly marked ,rewrapped and had to be rewrapped again this time another £700 (just for front area) in total over 2 grand wasted . vinyl is not that durable ,most RS 500 focus end up getting rewrapped :yes nod: she now regrets not getting car painted and wants to rectract her testimonial :ragin:

Thanks guys, I think my mind is made up, keep the bodywork / paint standard and spend my money elsewhere!

That's a sensible idea mate .. If you're wanting a colour change I can sort you out with a painter no hassle.

Cheers Davy, I don't know if I want a permanent change, so I'll just get some 15" wheels I think. Dark ones too so that it's more difficult to tell that I only wash my car biannually :-)

I think my car is beyond what can be achieved in a lunchtime!

I once caught someone trying to key it, but luckily the key only made it through the first couple of millimetres of dirt ;-)

Sounds like a sensible idea. I think that wrapping can work but it seems to have a lot of draw backs.
