So was looking through my car documents to see when my MOT was and stumbled across my service book, just realised the car has only had oil services since 2006!

So thought I'd spent a bit of money towards maintenance, looking to get a inspection 2 service kit. Thought I'd get all my oils and what not from Opie oils since they have 20% this weekend.

I have a rough list of what to buy but think I might be missing something.

Oil
Oil filter
Air filter
Cabin filter
Gearbox oil
Power steering fluid
Drive/Aux belt?
Spark plugs

And also where do people get their cars serviced from? Apart from dealer.
Was thinking of going to BforBMW or The Milne? I think that's what it is called.

Thanks for looking.

Thats a good shout a was thinking of travelling to 1320 in cambridge to get work done on my car but a would really prefer not to go that far for a company in scotlands that deals with work on minis for the price they charge for work seems resonably cheap theres a few companys down south but not in scotland i dont know why nobody has set one up in scotland

I use my local garage and have done for 22 years. They have worked on most if my MINIs and never had an issue. They have just replaced all the brakes on my S, replaced an abs wheels sensor and also a faulty thermostat and housing :)

Never used them but this is what you might be looking for in the Glasgow area, but as others have said any good garage can service your car... :yes nod:

I've used Pro-Grip for the past couple of years as I was put in touch with him by Gordon on here who has used him for years and find John very helpful... :thumbs up:

I drove 550 mile to Gtt in blandford and then home again when I first got the mini. I chose them after lots of research etc. and guess I'd go again if I got another mini

That's some trek, don't think I'm going to go that far, Ive only got a standard Cooper so a local would do, thanks anyway bud.

Thanks for all the replys guys much appreciated from what it looks like there's not many mini specialist near the Glasgow area, so will give the recommendations a look at.

Also is there anything missing on my list for the stuff needed for inspection 2?

Thornliebank Motor Engineers, next to Thornliebank railway station (0141 649 8088) have worked on my 2004 R50 since 2009/2010 (whenever the TLC XL ran out).

Work done on the car (that I can remember) : new ABS brake sensors, new rear shocker, new water pump, fitting a Playmini manifold, numerous MOT's, and most importantly assisting my case with MINI UK about securing a goodwill gesture from them when my power steering pump failed in 2009 as according to them such parts rarely fail & especially not on 4 year old cars (result = I paid for a new pump, less than c£100 and they fitted it free of charge when the normal rate for the job including part c£500)

I see no reason to travel large distances (obviously for non specialist petformance tuning etc) when local garages can look after the day to day running of your car ........... and then some :thumbs up:
