Took my car into douglas park today car is still under warranty for corrision on the tailgate car is a late december 2004 hope it gets done anybody had any other experiences with rust and corrision on their r53 it has a 12 year warranty

Yes mine did the same and got sorted just check your battery's well as it fills up with water if your boot has been leaking if there is water check the grommets where the belt line attach to the car

Had my tailgate replaced 4 years ago. They (JCs) tried to blame my numberplate for pushing grit into the paint, idiots

Yeah al keep it up to date shud here back in a couple of weeks hope it gets done seen a few cars of that age today in ayr and none of them had any corrision a did see one outside my work a couple of weeks ago and it was an 05 and it was worse than mine am talking a big brown scab that looked very bad looked like diorahea all over its tailgate lol

Slight update bmw phoned me at five to five this evening cars booked in for 29th that was quick bonus

Well just to let everybody know got my car back today good outcome they had to totally replace the tailgate brilliant as they said there where gonna sand it back and respray they also changed the back wiper motor , the arm and the high level brake light well chuffed with this must have been well over a grands worth of work done for £0 . Well happy 10 year old car 3rd owner thanks bmw /mini douglas park hillington the only downside is a think who ever drove it in broke the wee silver plastic part at the end of my handbrake am gonna fone them up and hopefully theyll replace it as it wasnt me that broke it and it was fine before it went in

Cheers stoney love the mini when am driving to work everyday i cant but help laugh and chuckle to myself throwing it around roundabouts a dont think any other car has made me do this lol

We had the same issue on our 2004 R50 and paid to get it fixed at a local bodywork shop, didn't think about approaching Mini :-(
