Was looking through my photobucket account sorting out albums etc and found my previous cars album so thought I would share just a handful, I've kept it to mainly the Japanese stuff I have had but may add some of the others when I sift through them !

Lets see some of your old cars prior to your current Mini !

One of two Renault Alpine A310 V6s I've owned. These make both of my pre-facelift R53s seem reliable and well built.

That's a lot of cars! In my 14 years of driving I've had:

Corsa 1.2
R50 Cooper
R53 JCW modded to hell (still got)
Volvo 850 (best £650 i've ever spent)
Ferrari 550 Maranello (still got)

Wife has 530d tourer and 3.0 Z4.

I'm too scared I'd miss a car too much to sell any of the ones we have!

Ok time for me to lower the tone a tad from all these stunning cars :thumbs up:

53 Focus Zetec 1.6 - had a blast with this one, until the gearbox went :(
56 Astra SRi 1.7 CDTi - not as much fun as the Focus
59 Astra SRi 1.9 CDTi 150 XP - massive fun, loads of low down grunt but being a diesel it soon ran out of grunt!
61 Focus 1.6 - hit a rough patch and needed something to get from A-B cheaply

Last time I counted I have had about 42 Cars.

I thought I was bad at 15 cars in 11 years of driving, not including cars I owned but never drove ;)

1988 E reg Citroen BX 1.6 got it given to me for free when I was 15 so never drove it, but my dad took me a spin in it and it handled like a boat. sold it for £100 the only car I've sold for a profit
1989 F reg Vauxhall Nova 1.3 Saloon bought for £75 at 16, drove it once then decided to use it to find out how to strip an engine  scrapped

Ok now for the cars I actually drove.

1991 Nissan Micra 1.0, such a fun first car bulletproof as well.

1994 Peugeot 405 1.6, quite well specced.

2003 Corsa 1.2, I think of that car and I should've hated it, I do now.

1996 Subaru Legacy 2.2 Wagon, a car that I loved, and I still kind of miss, oh the noise  . 168,000 miles on the clock and never missed a beat.

1988 Jaguar XJ6 3.6, lovely car so smooth and fast with quite a few gadgets

1996 Alfa 146, I was given this car because it had a gearbox problem, I hated it so didn't bother fixing it.

1995 Corsa 1.5 TD used to commute from Ayrshire to Glasgow so I could keep the Legacy as my weekend toy. Turned up the pump and went like stink for a 1.5 tractor engine.

1997 Volvo V40 2.0, heated seats! Enough said :thumbs up:

2003 Ford Focus ST170, HATED that car! Sold after only 4 months

2003 Mazda RX-8 231bhp, loved that car, lovely noise from that rotary and RWD with a proper LSD, not perfect though :( couldn't turn it off before it had warmed up and 14-18 mpg

2008 Ford Mondeo 2.0TDCI Ghia, loved the torque, over 50 mpg easy and it was well specced. Too boring and not powerful enough.

2006 Subaru Impreza 2.5 WRX wagon, I always said I'd own another Subaru and dreamed of having an Impreza thanks to an Impreza forum I'd joined before I owned the Legacy.

2001 Ford Fiesta 1.3 bought for the Edinburgh to Glasgow commute I was doing at that time.

2006 BMW 320d SE, another car which really surprised me and I also dreamt of owning (a BMW, not a 320d in particular) did a lot of improvements to this car which included fitting a M Sport LCI black leather interior and retrofitting i-drive as well as coding.

And after hiring a Cooper S convertible ended up in the JCW.

I'll have a look at the weekend and post some pics of my previous cars

Will see if I can remember. A dull list compared to some.

Fiesta 1.1L - first car and actually wanted a MG Metro!

Pug 205XS - probably car I remember most fondly

Pug 106 XT

Then came a wife and family and running 2 cars

Renault 19TD - quick but power band tiny

Ford Ka - loved this car and think longest we owned a car

Opel Zafira - great car for a family and I imported from Europe

Alfa 147 2.0 - another car I imported and allows me to say I love cars

Mondeo ST 220 - cracking car and great value but fuel consumption killed me

Renault Modus - great second car with a small family

Merc E320 cdi - engine only got into its stride above 70

Renault Megane Estate - merc was swapped for this. Guess who had just bought a new house!

Pug 4007 - great family car and was good for towing the caravan when we had it.

R56 MCS

R56 MCSD

Actually not that bad a collection when u look back.

Finally found a pic of my beloved 850 :-) Bought for £650 with 125k on the clock, ran like clockwork for 3 years, traded it in under the scrappage scheme with 165k on it and got £3k back!

My other previous cars are all on actual photos somewhere (pre-digital), as it's over 9 years since I bought the JCW

24th March 2014, 06:12 PM
Austin 1100 - White. Really my Mum's car, this is where I learned to drive at 17. I have spent the last 34 years FORGETTING how to drive!

Hillman Avenger - Mum's, but I used it all the time! Started as a Turquoise Metallic 1300, finished as a Black 1500 complete with Richard Grant aero add-ons and Gold Wheel Trims (!) Well I liked it.

Mini Clubman Estate - Also technically Mum's. I 'modded' it with a Peco Big Bore back box and chrome wheel trim rings. Great wee motor, burned a valve at indicated 95mph on Motorway...

Mini 1000 HLE - The first car I bought and owned! Tuned the 1000cc engine with Oselli 12G295 COOPER head (a work of art) and other bits. Ended up with 95bhp 1275... Such Fun. So many Near-Death experiences. With its LCB Manifold and Big Bore straight-through system, long journeys were as deafening as a WHO concert - it sounded like a very small, very angry dragster until I fitted an RC40 system to preserve my hearing. Had to sell it, as I was quite literally going to die in it at some point. Never beaten off the line or down a twisty road though! Until the (drum) brakes faded that is...

Talbot Horizon (900 and something cc) - Family Inheritance, which I was grateful for at the time, but an absolutely AWFUL car. Our relationship came to an end when I braked on a straight road between Larkhall and Hamilton to avoid an oncoming nutter who was overtaking in a blind dip, car snapped into a spin over the kerb, ripping off the sump, through fence - missing lamp post by 2 feet - ended up in field pointing wrong way. Rescued by passing Fire Engine crew.

Vauxhall Nova 1.0 - Quite terrible, but great after the Talbot. It was new and I could (just) afford it. My first 'showroom new' car.

Vauxhall Nova 1.3 SR - Not a bad wee motor, and vastly better than the 1.0 in SO many ways.

Rover Metro 1.4 GTI - Got this for a wee change from the Novas. TBH I never really got it on with this car, so after my Dad had his heart-attack and wanted a car with lighter steering etc, I swapped it for his...

Vauxhall Nova GTE - Great Engine, quick and good fun, but was a bit 'unsophisticated' in some areas. Had nice sounding Sebring exhaust on it and Revolution RFX Alloys.

Peugeot 106 XSi - Black, 100bhp, weighed same as a fag packet. Minimalist genius of a hatchback. Memorable run down from Durness on very bendy road - best car since my modded Mini.

Peugeot 106 XSi - Blue, 95bhp, as above, but with Hartwell (chip) Tuning, Exhaust, Lowered Suspension and BBS Pininfarina alloys (still got 'em!). Fab car!

Peugeot 106 GTi - Diablo Red. Final incarnation was tuned by L.A.D. in Blackpool to 170BHP, lowered, nice alloys, big-braked and custom exhaust from Peugeot Ecosse. Custom intake with huge Pipercross cone air filter. Low weight, decent power and sounded like a big bike at when you wrung out that sweet twin-cam. Happy days, but then came...

2001 MINI COOPER - Indi Blue/Black. Standard apart from Magnex exhaust system. The start of an ongoing love affair...

2003 MINI COOPER - Indi Blue/Black. Modded through 5 years ownership to final spec of JCW Works 210, Works Brakes and Suspension, Sparco Works chairs, 16" Minilites, GRS 'Cooler, Playmini Manifold with Sports Cat and full system. Probably my best car ever. Sounded even better than the big Pug! Still miss it a bit.

2003 MINI COOPER S - My current drive for past 5 years. You know the spec!

From (and including) the NOVA 1.0, all my cars were bought new.

Hope that's vaguely interesting - I have photos of most of the above, but some are so old, they're 'pre-digital', so I'll have to scan them. Some viewers might find them upsetting as they include photos of a young ELFMAN with hair, and dubious cut-off Levi shorts... Maybe best if I don't post them.

Yeah the Honda DC2 was my favourite car it's such a fun yet highly useable as is the DC5. That's what inspired me to buy the CTR but it just wasn't the same.

I see most people had better taste in cars than me then :p

1989 Fiat Panda Fire (no my fault, I got it given). Horrific car, had a shut off that used to cut fuel if the engine got too hot which would happen at 70mph quite regularly
1990 Rover Metro 1.1 (got given after the Panda was used as a trade in). Another horror show. Engine died after a week and stupidly paid £400 for an engine rebuild when I should have just scrapped it
1990 Citroen AX GT lowered on Spax springs. The first car I loved but it needed a lot of money spent on it and was starting to drop to pieces and I was skint. In the end went for
1997 Citroen Saxo 1.1. Erm, it had nice seats.
2002 Renault Clio 1.4. Bit of a brain fart. Should have spent a little extra and got the Sport version. This was a terrible car and my first brand new motor. A whole host of problems. Virtually backed into a corner when the warranty ran out and had to get rid.
2003 MINI Cooper. Ahh, this is more like it. On a whim took the Clio into a MINI garage and was smitted by a BRG Cooper. Nice car, but started to develop a few issues and I was looking with envious eyes at some faster cars. Had ran up some serious milage and was on around 118k when it went
2007 MINI Cooper S. Tremendous car despite it having pretty much every single known common issue plus a constantly rattling sunroof and loose panel somewhere either underneath or in the boot. But a pleasure to drive. Have racked up 121k miles though and its looking tired. Had a choice to trade it or semi-retire it. As I really enjoy driving it and the engine still feels strong I decided to keep it and get a
2014 Seat Mii. Bought to take the daily miles off the MINI. Nice little commuter and has a surprisingly good build quality and a few gadgets
