Isn't the scoop used for cooling on the R53? Even though the scoop on the R56 is mainly for decoration (or was ;) on mine) it still gets rid of heat, I wouldn't cover mine.

getting a custom front mount. So the top mount wont be there hense why im smoothing it :)

The scoop on the R56 is only useful with the later grille that has open sections (or if you remove it completely as some have on here). I always believed that the scoop on the R53 was far more functional than on the second-gen cars.
As an aside, I have fond memories of my first NMS run during which several of the R53's were venting steam from their scoops as the rainwater mixed with the heat under the bonnet. They were like little dragons :D

If you're going FMIC why not fit a Cooper bonnet? Will look much smarter than a smoothed S one

You'll get a pronounced hump on a smoothed S bonnet. The Cooper one is sleeker.
A Cooper bonnet with the S bumper is the best looking Mini IMO

oh okay thanks for that :) might have a look to see if i can get a bonnet the same colour
