I've got to go to the dentist, which is a parking nightmare - so it's lucky I have winter tyres fitted to my push-bike! As well as lots of tread cuts, the rubber is impregnated with glass particles that work like little studs on ice. The trick is to keep remembering that the tyres will grip perfectly well on surfaces so slippery that if you stop and put your foot down, your foot may slip. What I need now is winter boot soles.
