Harry Fairbairn Kirkcaldy New MINI Dealership Opening Run 16th March 2014

Harry Fairbairn are opening a new their new MINI dealership in Kirkcaldy on the 16th March. They have asked me to help organise a run to celebrate the opening of the dealership along with also inviting NMS along for the run. It won't be a huge run. There is no start point arranged yet but will hopefully have more details on Sunday when I go up to see them, but it will be finishing off at the the new dealership.

This is is a great opportunity to get NMS recognised and try and get some new members along the way.

Start point is Ferrytoll Park and Ride which from memory is the north side of the Forth Road Bridge. Think you're probably looking at 45 mins ish to get there? I'd say as long as we leave before 9:30 we won't be far off.

Thanks to all for organising a fine day out. Good to see the new MINIs in the metal, but even better to see some old friends again - it's been a while since we all got together, too long... Enjoyed the run and the blether, and the weather was kind to us too.

As for the new cars? Well I was quite impressed with them, the seats - to me a vital part of the 'feel' of a car (I think they were the Sports ones Jude), in particular are very good and a vast improvement over the non-Recaro R56 versions - if they'd had them previously I wouldn't have had to spend a grand on my Recaros! Excellent day, great turnout. Nice dealership and thanks to everyone at Harry Fairbairn as well as Brian and William for organising today.

I love the new car, when I was in Eastern the other day I enquired about those seats in the F56 Cooper S and apparently they are standard (but he could've got it wrong). I didn't want to like the S as much as I do now. I'd say it's in a league of it's own now and well worth that extra premium because now it feels and drives like a proper BMW with all the MINI character it needs. Fantastic car, my next car will be an F56.

Well done all for sorting out today. Great laugh and great to see the new dealership and F56 :). If we hadn't recently bought the paceman I'm sure a cooper would be in the driveway. Interior is a very nice place to be and it drives nice. Still stick by my initial thoughts re the exterior.;)

Thanks to all for organising a fine day out. Good to see the new MINIs in the metal, but even better to see some old friends again - it's been a while since we all got together, too long... Enjoyed the run and the blether, and the weather was kind to us too.

As for the new cars? Well I was quite impressed with them, the seats - to me a vital part of the 'feel' of a car (I think they were the Sports ones Jude), in particular are very good and a vast improvement over the non-Recaro R56 versions - if they'd had them previously I wouldn't have had to spend a grand on my Recaros! Awesome day, had fun and my dad did as well !If he hadnt recently just bought an Octavia VRS I think he could have been convinced to buy a Mini ! LOL

Really liked the new Cooper S but there were two things I was not keen on,

I felt the low profile tyres it had on it looked a bit small for the wheels it was sat on but thats maybe just personal preference.

The main thing that would annoy me massively was that I noticed the exhaust sits really far into the rear bumper and I can only imagine after time it would need you to keep polishing the bumper around the exhaust to keep it free from carbon/soot/crud build up especially if you start upping the performance and the car starts running a bit richer.#

Other than that, I loved it, it sounded great and looked smart. Lovely inside as well !

Does anyone know when the photos will be in the paper ? I heard someone say it would likely be in The Sun, The Road Record and the Fife Free Press ? Need to know so I can ask the parents to keep a copy when it comes out ! :)
