IMHO Pretentious Amateurs with a big hit for themselves :moonie:

What a complete and utter waste of time, not to mention the perfectly good interior. Being 'Creative' is fine, but this isn't even well done. Like a really low-rent Turner Prize entry.

Either that or someone let let a horde of tiny hyperactive Ribena-fuelled children with paints loose in their car :frown:

Haw, big man.. we're really gonna have to stop agreeing on stuff :p

I really like that, it's a hell of a lot of work, and it's been well done too. Not like the usual 'drove it through Halfords' tat, it's what MINIs should be all about. individual and creative :thumbs up::thumbs up::cool:

It's a bit like that R53 or was it R50 that I was talking too at that Car show William organised at the SSEC. It had LED lighting all over the dash and I mean all over. Then he pointed out the roof and it was like hundreds of stars in the sky. He had carpeted the roof in LED's as well.

I appreciated the work and individuality and nodded yeah very impressive but walked away thinking it had gone beyond good taste.

Can't say I like the above but it's been done well.

^^ just to be different !

It's all about making your car stand out from the others ..

There's probably been a fair amount of time, effort and cash thrown at that interior to make it different ..

I know that folk aren't going to be impressed but I decided to do something different on the GPs dash to make it stand out from the others ..

For those that haven't seen it here goes ... and for those that think a GP should not be touched shut your eyes !!

Thank you so much for the comments they are genuinely appreciated. I just wanted to make my GP stand out from the others but without going too far over the score. Don't worry it's not the original dash that's tucked away safe and well ;)

Seriously, I don't have a problem with anyone doing anything to their cars, inside or out - as long as they've put a bit of thought and effort into it and executed it well. I think the GP dash pictured here would be a selling point for me - I'd actually take it over the standard setup any day as it looks great. The dash which started this thread - IMHO - is just an example of someone 'artistically' playing with themselves. To me it looks completely out of place, it's a mish-mash of styles and colours and looks as if it's been done by someone with an attention span of 2 minutes.

If someone did the 'GP Saltire' dash in my car, I'd thank them profusely and treat them to the best Single Malt pennies can buy. If someone did the 'Acid Nightmare' in my car, I'd be up on a charge of GBH.

So it's all about design and execution, the GP dash has both, the Paceman has neither.

"all patterns such as these on the steering wheel had to be converged evenly on all sutures, keeping in mind they were all printed horizontally " That looks like it's been thought out and pretty well executed to me ;)

It's art dontcha know.. remember all the BMW 'Art Cars'? they were all pretty amazing too. This Paceman is a individual one off - it showcases the company's ability, and it was designed for an artist.
This artist... so i think it fits pretty well for him ;)

Just my opinion, makes a nice change from black saggy leather with some daring coloured stitching :p;):thumbs up:

All points taken, and it is "Art" (arguably anything can be "Art" if you call it that). But one man's 'Art' is another man's 'Mess'.

I'm pretty open-minded about these things and I certainly wouldn't want to be branded as a Philistine, so I've looked at it again and I have to honestly say I just plain don't like it. I suppose there's skill in putting, (allegedly) so much thought into something which looks so haphazard and - if you'll pardon the pun - "Slap Dash". To me it's all just a wee bit 'Emperor's New Clothes' (or Artist's new Dashboard) - where it is in reality a bit naff, but we'll call it "Art", and those who don't like it are just a bit too dim to appreciate its true aesthetic - and often monetary - value.

Trying to see through the artist's 'Well-Street Urban Chic' disguise - it's not Dappy from 'N-Dubz' embarking on a new career is it? Thought I recognised the hat. Give it a 6 months and if he gets lucky he'll be doing ads for Pepsi... or maybe MINI, while his work will be displayed in its own dedicated 'space' to the gasps of the middle-class LA/London GlitterArty. The next 'Banksy' even.

If he'd superglued Fred Goodwin to a wall and graffitied him to within an inch of his life, THAT would be "ART" worthy of the name :thumbs up:

Anyway, I know I shouldn't be saying this on a MINI site (forgive me), but if this guy was REALLY cool, he'd be driving a slammed Split-Screen 'Rat' look Type 2 VW Bus with a studio and a bar in the back... the fact he's splashed the cash (not to mention the paint) on a Paceman with Ali G Staines MASSIVE alloys ruins his unique artistic cred for me. Not to mention the ride quality.

I'd love to contribute to this thread, however, I just like it 'cos I like it. Don't really have any more justification than that. :D

Oh and...

if you'll pardon the pun - "Slap Dash".

Team the GP stuff as a dealer option and the person doing it would do a good turn.

Thinking the original Italian Job in black and white, with the three Coopers would be sweet on hidden compartment bit.
