Got flashed by one yesterday about ten miles after Dunkeld. It was a section that has various turn off and join up with the A9 roads. I was doing 70 in a 50. Whoops. Anyone know how many are live in that area?

:disapprove:

I know exactly what you'll get. My mum got done with the same camera. 3 points £60. sorry. She was doing 73 and that bit is a 60.

Oh just had a thought it could be that bit at Ballinluig that is a 50. Sorry not sure now.

The cameras are live at different times. I've been flashed at 104 and nothing came of it though the wait was nerve wracking.

The Ballinluig camera is the only speed camera that has ever flashed at me (honest :I) and nothing came of it. Good luck!

Seeing as the junction at Ballinluig is an accident blackspot, there's been several fatal accidents over the last couple of years, I think thats one of the few places the speed cameras are justified.

Unlike the one at the M9/M8 link at Newbridge. Thats just a Government Cash Machine.

While I think they can be justified in accident black spots, the thing I don't like is that they cannot take into account any other factors. For instance if 'Vosh' was doing it at rush hour, in freezing driving rain then thats one thing, but at 3 in the morning on a clear summer's night the penalty should be different. The cameras don't encourage proper, good, sensible driving - more traffic cops would be far better or perhaps if they compared CCTV footage. How difficult would it be to have a camera report temperature, wind and rain conditions for instance?

I've been caught once for doing 43mph on a wide empty urban road at 3am...
