Afternoon folks,

Just a quick post to introduce myself - I picked up my first Mini on Friday afternoon, and have been enjoying it so far.

I very nearly bought a 3 year old R53 Cooper back in 2008, but struggled to deal with the ride on the runflats / sports suspension, so bought a Fiat Panda 100HP (also had a harsh ride, but was 2 years newer / £2k cheaper at the time!)

Anyway, this was the first R56 I've driven, and it seems a bit more composed so far.

Some pics below - Looking forward to racking the miles up over the next few years (it's currently on 23k).

(I split my time between Stirling & Dublin, so should have plenty opportunity!)

Thanks for the warm welcome folks :D

I originally started out looking for an R56 Cooper S, but kept finding myself drawn to the Factory JCW - Most seem to be well optioned, and 'enthusiast' owned. (Whether this is a good thing... !)

Spotted this one online last Tuesday, and put a deposit on it there & then, without seeing it / driving it. Talk about an impulse purchase.

Alas, having collected it last Friday lunchtime and driven it back home, I promptly packed a bag and rushed to Edinburgh airport to catch a flight - I won't get the chance to see my new car again till a week on Sunday...(!)

Thanks for the tip regarding the steering wheel - I do like the alcantara, and want to keep it in decent condition - The only problem I've had so far, is the ease with which you can spend money on these little cars.

I seem to have taken a year's extended Mini warranty, bought the armrest iPhone snap in connector, got a price for black LCI / facelift MFSW steering wheel inserts, the GP2 diffuser, and the Official LED daylight running lights...Aherm!

Wheels could do with repair to a couple of parking dings - Not sure whether to change them to black at that point - But that's it. It's a daily, and will remain bog standard otherwise.

(I'm trying to mentally blank out the JCW Recaro Sportster CS's for sale in the classifieds! ;) )

Looking forward to learning about the Scottish Mini scene - :thumbs up:

That's a good looking JCW.. My last one was an '08PW..

You can also clean the wheel with a damp MF cloth... or apparently baby wipes do the trick too..
Once you start the Mods tho.. it's a slippery and expensive slope!
Welcome aboard!
