Winters are now staying on the Clubby for a larger part of the year than the summer rims

Well, the Winter seems to be staying for longer than any other part of the year... :frown:

Had new summer tyres fitted on Saturday.
I think you will be fine to remove them.

Still not got above 4 degrees here, so winters remain for the next few days at least. I don't care, my car is parked in the garage going nowhere!

yeah I'm thinking I'll try and sort something out soon. Apart from anything else I'm getting bored of people asking "what happened to your wheels?" and "didn't you want alloys?" .......and then snorting at me for having winters cos they are so pointless. Apparently. I don't care, I like having them :yes nod:

I was just thinking today, as I slipped and slid around some little country roads, that this weekend might be the time to swap.
But even down 'ere, just in England, I haven't been seeing much of the magic 10 degrees that makes me worry about driving on winters, and I have been seeing those 3 or 4 degree mornings when the winters are useful psychologically, if not in reality.
But like most Springs, I can't wait for that extra cornering grip on summers.

Made the change-over last weekend after having the summer alloys refurbished. Will post up some pics soon.

it would take me about a week if I tried to do it myself. Actually my back is really playing up and I'm not sure it's even a good idea for me to lug them out of the shed and try and hoik them into the boot

It's thread resurrection time again!
I finally took my winters off last weekend which seems to have been good timing as the temperature has really gone up, even if it doesn't feel it in the wind.
So I finally got all the grime off the winters and found several small dried-up river beds in the inside edge of the rims - no wonder the wheel balance didn't feel too good! That's probably a penalty of running 17" winters as the wider rim gives plenty of space for muck to settle.
Taking wheels off to clean the backs of the rims on a regular basis is one of those things that I think life is waaay too short for - I rate it up there with only serving biscuits on a plate with a paper doilie and permanenetly keeping plastic covers over the living room furniture.
I also thought I would take out all the small stones embedded in the rear tyres - there were none stuck in the front tyres where I guess the traction effort throws them out. And there were so many that I had to record this scientific find. This is the contents of each rear tyre with a 20p piece for comparison.

nice! I hope you recorded which was left and which was right. You should keep them for next year and compare again :thumbs up:
Mine are still pending but will be swapping in next week or so. The winters have been feeling quite unsteady recently, even out of the wind, ...probably relating to the fact I haven't checked the pressure for ages! need another week in my week.

All this technology and its comes to this, I’m looking at stones on a plate that came out mini tyres. And the really sad part its the most interesting post of the night on here!
