Hi folks, the laptop has packed in so its time to renew.

Opinions please on whether I should buy a new laptop or go for an iPad.

Pros and cons of each will be great thanks

Hmmm, Thinking about it, l have an iPhone and I do practically everything on there, emails, surfing, Skype and photos etc.
One thing tho, does the iPad have a port for my SD card

But then my laptop has my adobe photoshop on it.
Too much decisions for a Sunday night lol

No slot on an iPad for extra space, that's how they rip you off

Sorry never looked at what I typed. I cant agree with Stoney more on what he said. I have both and use both for diffrent things

No worries. Ipads are great for quickness but wouldnt be able to give up my laptop to replace it with an ipad

If going for a laptop, consider an Acer. I got one for a cracking price from Amazon. It has been faultless from day 1.

This is my thoughts too.

Re the SD port you can buy a widget that plugs in the bottom of the ipad to support this, at least I've got one for my older ipad. I only use it for moving pics about off my camera.

Samsung tab is an option too. More versatile than ipad.

I bought a Lenovo 11.3" laptop but 2 weeks latter the iPad 3 was released and I have not used the laptop since then, which was back in March '12.
At the end of the day it all depends on what you are gonna use it for.

It will mainly be used for emails, surfing and keeping photos on.
The problem with an iPad is that I have thousands of pics so would probably need to buy the 64g one

Personally i see tablets as an extension to an existing PC / laptop - If you go with a tablet only, there will be numerous things crop up which you will need a laptop for, eg connecting a camera, working on office, typing up letters etc.

However there may be a combined solution, have you thought about these laptops which transform into tablets?
