...such as the ITG one for the JCW.. what would you guys recommend to clean one with and re-oil?
Is it as simple as Petrol to clean and some WD40 to oil it back up?

Hi other E.
You've got me thinking now (it'll be on the news tonight) - I must have alook in my airbox... I do very low miles, but I haven't checked mine since I fitted it! :hand:
I think there's specific stuff required to clean and re-oil, so as not to K/O your filter.
Don't know if this helps
http://www.itgairfilters.com/advice.htm
My 'JCW Stage 1' uses the Cylindrical ITG Pro Filter as opposed to the 'Factory' JCW Panel Filter in your car.
The ITG site seems to give the impression that the Pro Filter 'WB' series is a 'fit and forget', whereas their 'Foam Air Filters' require cleaning and oiling once a year and it also says that the cylindrical Pro Filter ones need cleaning and oiling... so I'm just confused now, 'cos I've never cleaned mine...
"Pro Filter WB panel filters never required to be cleaned, just regularly wiped with a lint free cloth at service intervals.
Pro Filter BH cylindrical filters will need to be cleaned and re oiled once a year."
Not sure if the following (from the ITG Fitment blurb) refers to the FJCW or the 'Stage 1' It's a 'BH' and hunting around, it seems to refer to the Cylindrical St 1 type.

Anyway - if yours is the Panel Type (which I think it is), it might just need a wipe... :phew: but I could be talking out of my :moonie:
Anybody else? :idunno:

I'm def going to have a look in my airbox before my next outing... I'm paranoid now that it'll have a mass of gunge in it - though the car was going great when it was out on William's run.

Quick update.. got a PiperCross Foam filter cleaning kit from Halfords of all places for £15... Bit smaller than the ITG kit (less in it) but didn't have to pay £7 for postage which i would have done for the ITG kit from Camskill..
Next plan, find some time to clean the filter! ;)
