Good solid work horses and plenty of room for the dog.

My experience is they are good when their good but when they go wrong its disastrous,
Is it a dog wagon your after? I would rather have a Toyota with starship miles than a low mileage vauxhall

I had 3.0 V6 diesel one for 18 months, the engine can be chipped to well in excess of 220bhp and its very smooth and quiet. It never missed a beat. I believe its an old Isuzu engine and has been used in the Espace and Avantime. On a long motorway run I saw 45-50mpg and even when driven hard on A roads it stayed in the high 30s/low 40s.
Avoid the 2.0 and 2.2 diesels they are unreliable, underpowered and noisy.
The 1.9 is a Fiat engine as used in the Alfas, can have problems with valves in the cylinder head though.
The Vectra itself is a great motorway cruiser in SRi spec but the none SRi gets a bit floaty. Just don't expect it to handle well.
