Hi guys,
I have tickets for the West Stand on Friday, can anyone recommend a decent pub within walking distance of Hampden.
Thanks

The Clockwork Beer Co
Cathcart Rd, a 5 minute walk to the ground. I would get there early as I can only guess it will be busy.

Depends on what you're looking for .. We usually head to "Strathies" it's got great pre match entertainment but it's a good 15-20 minute walk to the ground !
I intend to live forever ... So far so good !

Church on the Hill is up at the Langside monument which is a 10/15 minute walk to Hampden.
Another to consider would be the Queens Park Cafe at the top of Victoria Road (more of a mans drinking pub, but a good atmosphere) which is a fifteen minute walk. Also plenty of good pubs/eateries in Shawlands but you are looking at a 20 minute walk.
Never been in Strathies although I lived around the corner from it for 8 years. My favourite is right across the road, Heraghtys Bar.
If it were me I'd head for the Clockwork as its big, does food and its the nearest to the ground.

Good stuff :thumbs up:
One last thing, are you planning on parking a car, if so be prepared for a slightly longer walk as parking that near to the stadium will be a no no.

Forget the car just take the train you'll probably need a drink if last Wales game was anything to go by !!

Train is a better bet if you can as the Cathcart station is only 5 mins walk from the Clockwork.
When did Church on the Hill change back from Barh Buddha Crombo?

Train - Mount Florida on the way out, Cathcart on the way back (train goes to Cathcart first, more chance of a seat)
There's usually a massive queue outside Clockwork by midday, never been in on matchday.
Pandora's on Victoria Rd is good, there's normally something on in Tusk at Shawlands

We were at Hampden on Sunday, my first time. We parked at Newton park and ride and then took the train to Mt. florida. Took 15 mins and was £3.40 return. It beat all the traffic queues and the trains were not crowded in either direction as most folk were going back to the centre.

It's often quicker to walk back to the centre if Hampden is a full house. Takes about 35 mins to the Merchant City, fine area for a few consolation beers...

Train is a great way of getting to Hampden, I just had it in my head that TAM1314 would be coming through by car.
Now as has been posted, a great idea is park & ride 'but' approaching Cathcart or Mount Florida from the south side. Patterton station at Newton Mearns for instance has a HUGE park & ride car park & you are only 4 & 5 stops away. The beauty of Mearns Patterton is that it is right off Junction 4 of the M77, so easy as to find.
As for the Church Col, I have no need to pass the area whatsoever so a name change could well have been made :yes nod:

Church on the hill only makes sense for spring/autumn games IMO, when the bar is open outside and you can stand outside. It's like a zoo to get to either the bar inside or the toilets

You'll not get into Pandoras now unless you queue or have tickets .. Once full that's it so its an early start if you want in ..
Could always try The Shed too although its usually ticket only for Saturday games it's a two minute walk from clockwork ..

I am travelling down from Aberdeenshire on the Friday and staying at a Premier Inn on the south side so just going to get a taxi there and back.
Seemingly it's on 3 miles to Hampden.

Keep forgetting this is a night game, hmm will need to rethink the post-match cheering-up session

Premier at New Gorbals would fit that distance.

Perfect for the Merchant City. Take a walk over the Clyde (or grab a cab) and head for Blackfriars or Babbity Bowster and enjoy an excellent pre match beer or two :thumbs up:
Post beers you have the choice of taxi or Central Station which is an easy 10/15 min walk, enjoy the game sir

25 to 30 minutes, but I'd reckon the train from Central to Mount Florida would be best.

Yeah jump on the train but just buy a ticket for going out you'll not need one for the return .. Never been stopped on the return leg it's too busy. Treat yourself to another pint with the savings you might need it !

Watch the time as well, sometimes the train takes 15 minutes, sometimes 40 minutes. I've had a few near misses, mind you most of the time I wish I'd just stayed in the pub under Levein

Result was crap but hardly unexpected. Hopefully Strachan will experiment now for the rest of the games and maybe actually play Rhodes
