Great news, welcome back D2. Hope you are all well. Mom and I were just talking about how old the kids must be since we took the pictures at Silverstone. We were also talking about the "Round Britain Run" which seems a long time ago. That would be one to ressurrect.....lol :hand:

WoW! Thanks for the welcome back guys, I feel special.
Yip Charity Round Britain in 3 days was 2004, I was actually thinking a 10yr Anniversary Charity Run would be a good un. Girls are 18,16 & Ethan-Ross (3D) is 12 now, he was 2 on his 1st Mini Run, Stirling to Crieff I think. Incredibly buzzing at the prospect of getting back involved with the club & on runs. Pity we miss the May/June Runs.

Ok Guys and Girls,

not long til this run, so I'm doing the recce tomorrow with the help of my good friend Greig. ;)

for those that have done the Perthshire Run before, I am modifying it (changing the second half) to bring the mileage for the run down to around 100 miles. This is because I've found runs which are a bit shorter than my runs used to be are more relaxed and fun and gives people more time to talk mods and catch up in general. Hope this is ok with you all.

The start an finish points are as stated in post one.

I'm excited Craig! Took the MINI out for V-Power and a wee 'shakedown' today and experienced proper acceleration and a bit of Torque Steer for the first time in ages! That's what going from an 85bhp Fabia to a 200-ish bhp MINI does for you... nearly wet myself

See Y'all Tomorrow :bigwave:

Huge thanks to Craig for organising the run, I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say it was a cracking day. I'm sure that won't be my last run with you all. :)

Just need to give the car a clean now, either that or I can go for a wee run somewhere tomorrow. Decisions, decisions....

Thankfully they didn't travel as a group otherwise things could have been interesting to say the least!

Anyway here's a few photos that I snapped with the phone.

Thanks for an excellent day Craig :thumbs up: :motoring:
It's been quite a while since I've used G3 ELF 'as God intended', so I was a bit rusty to say the least, but I don't think I held anybody up. Great to have a proper run in the car and find out it all still works (apart from the nearside sidelight, which I have to 'dunt' to get it come to life - a bit like myself these days). Great selection of roads and we were blessed with decent weather too - and some very understanding classic MG owners! Food and service at Crieff excellent as usual. Car's washed, dried and under its 'special blanket'...

I must admit I've been really swithering this year about whither to keep the MINI or do a 'Monty Python' and move on to "Something Completely Different" - I still have that 70's VW Type 2 Camper Van on my Bucket List  - and no I'm NOT kidding, but being out with you fine NMS folks (old and new) today and reminding myself of why I've had MINIs since 2001 has put my quandry on the back burner, at least for the time being. Thanks for that.
Have fun, stay safe and keep the shiny side up! :bigwave:

Thanks for a great first run! It's been the first time I've properly stretched my JCWs legs and I enjoyed every minute of it as did Rachael and my wee sister. Great choice of roads and very well planned! I'll look through my photos and get the best ones up soon. I'll need to get my name down for the October run :).

:off topic:Cheers Craig.

No, a while back I was getting a warning (wee 'bulb' symbol) when I put the lights on. I had a look and it was my nearside front lower Side/Driving light that was out. Gave it a bump (as you do) and it came on. Dealer had a look when it was in for its last Service and it turns out there's a bit of corrosion in the actual unit and only real solution is to replace it. So when I turn on the sidelights, I have to remember to nip out and give it a wee tap and it comes on. Bit of a pain, so will probably get it replaced at some point.

Wee warning 'triangle with an exclamation mark' which appeared on the last leg of the run on Sunday was apparently the 'residual' warning from the previous time I switched/tapped it after the last stop. So nothing serious. Clear now.

Haven't had emissions light for a while - but then again haven't been running enough - it'll maybe make an appearance next time out. Douglas Park MINI in Hamilton have been very good in the past in that they've reset it for me F.O.C., so can't complain. I think I'm a sort of 'Nominated Charity' for them!

Thanks for your concern though :thumbs up: Back on Topic now...

You can hire the Camper van or other classics from a place in Stirling, The other Ewan did it with a yellow camper. Get that itch out the way. Every camper van I've known needed constant work too.

It's nice to see the pictures and a great turn out.

Cracking run again Craig!
Good to get the car out for a bit of a blast ;):thumbs up:

..Even if i have to kind of take it easy on some of the bouncy bits. After a visit to Perth A&E and a call to the Doc on Monday, Fi's torn a muscle in her neck and had a mild concussion.. (nothing to do with my driving! lol) so.. she's been told to relax for a couple of days and not to do anything brain-power related. That's her watching daytime telly then!:laugh:

Love the quaich road, and the steak burger was ace too. hope yours was worth the wait! ;)

The Camper Van we hired was great fun btw. as long as you don't want Power steering, power brakes.. or for that matter.. POWER! lol.
Even the one we hired wasn't perfect, it did cut out a few times pulling in to stops, laybys etc. So like Stewart says... as long as you're prepared to fiddle with it all the time (Ooh, Matron), then they're great fun. I'd definitely hire one for a few days first tho to see if it's for you or not :thumbs up::D

Glad Fi's (sort of) OK, that sounded a nasty incident! Has she reported it yet?

It's on my 'to do' list to hire a Camper before I ever went anywhere near buying one. Don't want to end up with reality crushing my Pipe Dream! It'd be like finally getting that date with Kylie and finding out her hobbies were Spitting and Racism... Though if I ever did get one 'built', it'd have Power Steering, Disk Brakes, sorted Suspension... oh, and a tuned 1776 or 2 litre in the boot! (check out www.vwkampers.com (http://www.vwkampers.com)) :thumbs up:

Defo would have to be one of the new T2s from Brazil. They aint cheap but they would be a lot less hassle than an original.

Ahh, but you can get a rebuilt/restored 70's one for the same sort of money or less - and it'll have the proper 'Flat 4' sound. (The later 'Danbury' T2s have 1.4 watercooled units - but they are VERY good build quality, although you can hit £40K + on one if you 'option' it heavily - bit like a JCW Countryman I suppose ).

Apologies for the :off topic:ness. Enough Campers already! :hand:
