View Full Version : MINI's last swansong at Laguna Seca & Lime Rock - Help needed

Most of you will know NMS'er Chris Knox... Chris is the current British MINI Challenge Champion, a former competitor in the SMRC Scottish MINI Cooper Cup and has raced in Daytona in the BMW Performance 200 series. Grand-Am have decided the R53 is too old for their series so 2012 is the iconic car's last outing. On hearing this news Chris contacted Randy Smalley of RSR Motorsport and together they have decided to give the car a fantastic send-off and allow MINI owners and fans all over the world to be part of the event.

To be part of the send off and to help support the initiative (and to get much more info than I've posted here), click through to http://www.gofundme.com/MINI-Swansong-2012

A range of sponsorship options are available starting from just £10. Chris has said that if he gets 10 NMS folk sponsoring at £10, he will put the NMS logo on his helmet, so remember to say you're with NMS if you are able to sponsor him.

I know money is tight for everyone, and putting this into context, your tenner could go to a more charitable cause, but I'm sure many here would agree, Chris is an incredible driver, this is a great opportunity to support MINI racing across the pond and have your name on the (hopefully) winning driver's helmet.

Over to you guys.

thanks for your donations guys! :D I am indeed looking forward to the wine! although earplugs are needed :shut up: as the car has no windows and the exhaust exits the side skirt

Chris, tried to donate today from work, but had to create a Paypal A/C as I didn't have one. Needless to say, it all went t*ts up and I'll have to try to sort it when I get home.

The Race Track to Hell is paved with good intentions... :argh::argh::argh: The season will probably be over before my Tenner Appears!

I had to deactivate paypal a while back as I was getting ebay payments taken off that shouldn't have been. Kinda lost trust in it!

That's why I've been quite wary of these 'convenient' payment methods - not, as some would have you believe, hat I'm some kind of technological "Luddite" - so I'll be keeping a beady eye on my bank statements etc... Never been on EBAY though.

It is but it's impossible to track the source when things go wrong. I was getting increasingly threatening letters from an (apparent) debt collection agency over payments that I hadn't (had) paid for an item. With my seller having bought from another person in France (alledgedly the 'client' of the debt collector) I couldn't tell who was being dishonest or attempting fraud or whether it was a genuine mistake. Haven't used ebay since.
sorry :off topic:

5 NMS members have kindly donated so far :thumbs up: is there 5 more out there so I can proudly put the NMS logo on my helmet? hoping NMS will be the first MINI forum to have 10 donators as I will be make a point of mentioning it in my press releases :thumbs up:

Thought I'd update this a little bit! Things are moving well!

Grand Am have featured my news twice on their site in the last week which is amazing!!!

http://www.grand-am.com/News/GA_News/tabid/141/Article/52356/british-mini-star-knox-set-for-mazda-raceway-laguna-seca.aspx?cid=6384&sid=2

also check out https://www.facebook.com/MINISwansong2012 to see a vid of my helmet showing the NMS logo!

you guys have shown me a lot of support over the years and I've met some cool people on this site so I thought it was only fair to add the NMS logo to my helmet :thumbs up:

Also if you haven't liked that page could you hit like :p
