Cold Start Rattle???

Can someone tell me what the famous cold start rattle sounds like. Jumped in the car this morning to take my daughter to work and the car sounded like a tractor! Press the accelerator and the noise increases. Does this sound as if it could be the death rattle? It's a 08 plate Cooper S Clubman :sad:

Sounds kinda like it, does it go away after a few minutes ?

Yes goes away if I let the car idle for a while

Yep, thats the death rattle. Swing it into a dealer and ask for it to be fixed asap! Just try and let the car idle for a minute or two before setting off, that will help in the mean time until it's fixed!

Yes it is still occurring on some cars. Thankfully there is a proper fix available as there has been for two years.

problem is if you take it to a dealer and they say all minis sound like that,mines sounded like a bag of bolts rattlin on cold idle and was hit with that rubbish,they also said it had been put through all the diagnostic checks for that model and the car was found to be fine,if i had wanted a diesel i would have bought one.
