Time for a new "What's the day job" thread....
Post up what you do - if you're allowed to, also post up who you do it for.
I guess now the commercial sponsorship side of the site has pretty well gone, Gismo won't mind us all posting up URL links to the company you work for also.

Design and Printing for Community and Voluntary Groups.
Working for a Voluntary Organisation, I'm employed by a voluntary Management Committee made up from folks in local groups, churches etc. There's only me and my (part time) colleague, and I produce Leaflets, Posters, Booklets, Tickets etc to help organisations publicise their activities, keep in touch with their members and provide material for their day-to-day running, like Letterheaded Paper etc.
Although I've run the place for years now (the Committee are quite 'hands off', but there when required) I started off as a 'dole-bound' volunteer in 1984(!) Way back then we had 12 staff, Graphics & Printing service, an Info Library and all sorts of 'workshop/outreach' stuff, but in the intervening years, variable/no funding saw most of that hit the buffers and now it's purely 1.5 of us and my wages come from the work I do. Been at it for SO long, and it gets well stressful at times, but the type of work we do and the people we do it for (eg British Legion, Joint Ex-Services Assoc. and lots of really worthwhile support groups) keeps me going!

Yes I think so. Two brothers . I work with one of the daughters Suzanne. I have a bit of a thing for potatoes. Roosters are my favorite but have to be from the correct area. WW Martin at the Black Isle or Allarburn Dairies Nairn are my preferred suppliers. Unfortunately staying in Stirling area we do not have the ground to grow a good tattie. I am not really a new potatoes person. Yuck.

Too right and wet inside. We like good spuds as well. M is always after the perfect seed ones for his allotment. Best tattie I ever tasted was at Jim McGuguan's house which was fitting since he was a tattie merchant before he retired. Tattie was light and fluffy inside. Perfect!

Forgot to ask. What is the best soil conditions for growing fine tatties?
:off topic: (but kind of related...)
Potatoes will grow in almost any soil type, some folk will grow them purely in peat based compost to achieve very clean bright skins. Best to have an area of ground that does get some sun (as spuds are sunloving as much as they need water...), plant when it is frost free into soil that has been worked well into a deep, fine tilth and some rotted FYM is a benefit too. Remember to ridge up to make drills as they emerge to give more soil volume, improve drainage and help against tuber blight.
Interesting varieties to choose are: Arran Victory (c.1918 and purple in colour), Kestrel (c.1992 white with purple eyes), Osprey (c.1999 white with pink eyes), Record (c.1932 very dry tasting potato) and Swift (c.1994 very early maturing). Although regarding variety choice it is very much a personal thing...
A good read is The Potato Book by Alan Romans.
