According to an article in the latest EVO magazine, you can now buy a second hand Honda NSX for the same price as a standard Cooper 'S' :yes nod: 10 year old supercars are now in hot hatchback territory...!!!

Here's what EVO are quoting as the running costs for the NSX.......

Annual service...........£189
2nd year service........£550
Cambelt service.........£1000...!!!
Front tyre................£97
Rear tyre.................£137
Fuel (1 year)............£2520
Insurance................£460
2977cc V6, 252bhp@7100rpm, 0-60 in 5.8, 165mph top speed, £65000 new

I'd have one over a new 'S' that's for sure......:yes nod:

^^ all that (barring the cam belt of course) isn't that far off what it costs to run an R53 these days. Honda's don't break either

That's a sweeping generalisation to which there are exceptions. During the first 4 months of our CRV it spent about 3 months in the garage and was eventually replaced under warranty. Second one developed the same fault after 6 months and we got rid as soon as we could.

Notwithstanding the above, I realise that Honda's generally have an excellent build quality and are as reliable as your granny.

NSX is an awesome piece of kit but I'd not want to run one as a daily. They're quite big cars (well, long) so parking would be a mare, and the more miles the less it would be worth, they didn't really make that many. Would love one in the garage for sunny days though, always loved them.

Would happily run a 911 as a daily though, they made tons of them. So long as there was a specialist nearby to help with servicing etc (there is one near me, a good one at that. I've not gone in as I don't think I'm strong enough to resist!)

I've had a hankering for a nice Porsche for quite some time, well since they rediscovered their Mojo after the Yuppie-driven 80s... Price-wise, something like a decent Boxster S starts to look interesting when you compare it to a Factory JCW. I've really fancied something like that ever since I had a run in my pal's Cayman S a while back - he now has a Nissan GTR which is fantastic and ballistic, but as an everyday drive I'd actually have the Cayman. Euan - where's that specialist?.....

Here is the specialist, but he's a bit far south for you! 911 for less than a Cooper S nowadays, though with running costs to make the Mini laugh in it's face.
