Can we buy tyre with higher speed rating and load index?? If not, what are the possible bad consequences? If this has been discussed before, can anyone point out which thread worth looking at.

I am ditching runflats towards non runflats. currently I am using 84v rating as stock tyres. I believe that's minimum rating for MINIs too. I am thinking of buying Kumho Ecsta KU39 reinforced. However, their rating is 88y. Is this too much?? I am worried it will defeat the purpose of switching to non runflats for better ride since they are reinforced and stiffer as some people have said.

Y rating will be fine and normally refers to the speed. If they are reinforced you will still notice a huge difference between them and run flats and if I was to put you in a car with std tyres and what manufacturers say are reinforced std tyres then I could put £200 on you not noticing the difference ;)

I'm not really sure of the point tbh. I do know they do "extra load" tyres which are normally for the bigger/heavier cars so as to minimise sidewall movement ;)

I could say they are for the female Market so those brushes with kerbs don't damage the tyre, but I'm not that brave

Oops :thud: I just said it!!
