r56 gearbox oil

thinking of changing gearbox oil on my 07 cooper,does anyone recommend a good oil,i have read redline is good but cant find out exact description to order it,would really appreciate any advice,many thanks

Not sure about the R56, but I recently changed the 'box oil on my R53 with Redline MTL, was one of the easier jobs on the mini to do

did you think there was an improvement,cant seem to find any for R56 ?

It feels a bit smoother and lighter, but may just be a placebo effect. Can't hurt to change it; black stuff came out, clean pink stuff went in

having trouble finding out if the redline mtl 70/80 gear oil is compatable for r56,phoned bmw perth,they said should be mts 94 gear oil,said i would have to look at sticker on gearbox to see what oil is in,seems bit of faffing about to me ha ha
