One of our club members at the Strathmore Vintage Vehicle Club was asked to supply a 1930's pick up for some movie filming in Edinburgh this week. (Cloud Atlas) starring Halle Berry and Tom Hanks.

Now this Austin Pick up is kept in show condition for the year and was recentlty done be me just before it won a couple of 1st places at one of the rallies

2918

Now Bruce was told it couldn't be shiney for the filming but not to worry as they would "Fake it" and make it look dirty.

It came back this morning looking like this.

2919 2920 2921 2922 2923

It took approx an hour to "apply" the dirt to it. Now expecting it to be dirty I asked Bruce to make sure they did not wash it to make sure they did not inflict and scratches.

So it was out with the snow foam for a luxurious bath in foam to soften and shift what ever it was they stuck on it.

2924 2925

Now I am a big fan of Autosmarts products so once it was dried off, some of the light scatch marks left by the applying of the dirt were machined out
2926

thankfully the protection that it has had this year made it an easy clean up so it was given a polish with their experimental hand made Platinum C polymer ploish and topped off with a fresh coat of WAX.

Now Looking the way it should

2928 2929 2930 2931 2932 2933 2934 2935 2936

I know its not a Mini but it is an Austin (tenious link i Know)

Thanks for looking.

Yeah it was a little bit dirtier than I expected it to be but it cleaned off without much effort. the stuff felt a little bit like a powder very waxy feel to it. Think it may have been a harder job it it was left on for any length of time though.

Graham,

These are absolutely fantastic!!! Bruce was disappointed that he couldnt get any photos himself on the day so he will be exstatic with them. He just left tonight to go away on a fortnights holiday, I'll email you his address and contact details for when he returns.
