My wheel hubs are looking naff. See attached pictures. Think it is perhaps over use of wheel cleaners. I've also never understood why they were painted grey in the first paloce. Can they be painted (say black) using a heat resistant paint, or do they need to be removed and powder coated? Any suggestions or help appreciated. Don't think even Mr King couls polish these marks out lol

I did mine on my old motor using Hammerite silver heat resistant paint. Scrub them down with a wire brush and clean off any dust/powder then apply with a brush.

Have seen people use spray cans also and just masking the discs up. Crap design to be honest even on my split new car they have marks already.

Well the car got gutted today and given a good tidy up... mainly the hubs getting repainted and looking fresh.

Baz, What colour do you think I should go? My thinking is black as the wheels are black?

I would say black malcolm, it would tie in better... ;) hammerite paint is the best for this job, last for ages and is quite stone chip friendly. :yes nod:

Yeah I would go black, looks more classic and would suit your car down to the ground.

I usually just mask off the caliper and the edge of the pad then spray the hub with heat proof paint. No need to mask off the disc as the first time you apply the brakes it cleans off and leaves a perfect edge line. I always go silver as thats the factory colour.

Got the job done today, went for black. looks a lot better. Also cleaned the wheels inside and out, ready for Liverpool next week.
Also cleaned the silver S spokes on the convertible and wait for it, used a very old tin of "turtle Wax". Quite hard to polish off, but the finish was superb.
