I meant to ask, as I have never been on a Mini run before, what is the pace?

GCA3N
10th August 2011, 10:48 PM
I meant to ask, as I have never been on a Mini run before, what is the pace?

The runs are the best part of the mini scene imo. The pace is upto you. There will always be quick and slow drivers so you just drive at the pace that suits you. As long as you have the run notes then you'll not get lost. There are loads of stops on the runs too for the group to catch up and to stop for a natter (and a brew if mum and dad are there lol)

SuperCooperS
11th August 2011, 10:22 PM
I was wondering when we can get our hands on the pace notes.. do we usually get them emailed to us?

Craig
11th August 2011, 10:35 PM
The run notes are normally put up 1 week or so before the run. Is normally up to you to print off your own notes, but sometimes the organiser will bring some notes with them ;)

Going to do a proper recce now I know enough folks are interested in doing the run, to create the run notes

As Craig says I will put them on the site when ready so you can print them, but I will bring some spares too on the day

I'm really looking forward to seeing pictures:yes nod: glad to hear you all had a great day.

I'd love to do a run but I'm pretty sure I'd be too slow and it would just be annoying for others and stressful for me so I doubt I will do one:sad::frown:

Sadly, twisty, unfamiliar roads with lots of other cars about are exactly where I slow right down unfortunately so I'm prob just a really boring and rubbish 'runner'

Should I upload to you tube or onto photobucket??

Craig depends on how long the vids are if longer than 6mins then YouTube as photo bucket only dose about 8 mins I think

Great selection of MINIs there folks! Glad you had a good day. Seems like ages since I was on a Run, May in fact - seeing the photos just reminds me of what I'm missing!

love [/B]to do a run but I'm pretty sure I'd be too slow and it would just be annoying for others and stressful for me so I doubt I will do one:sad:Sadly, twisty, unfamiliar roads with lots of other cars about are exactly where I slow right down unfortunately so I'm prob just a really boring and rubbish 'runner'...If there's ever a mini pootle then I'm in!

:hand: You'll never know till you try! We all have different 'Comfort Zones' when driving, some folks like to go a bit quicker, while others are happier to take their time. There are stops along the way for you to catch up if you need to and there's always a 'Tail Gunner' to make sure everyone's accounted for. We always have a good time at the lunch stops with some fine banter and fine grub. I know for sure I wouldn't have enjoyed my MINIs half as much without NMS Runs and the Fab people who take part - it's what MINI ownership is all about. If you're REALLY not sure, why not hitch a lift and take part without having to worry about the driving, then you might want to drive next time - it's the best way to enjoy your MINI! :thumbs up:

Its ok I'm just as slow, I let the faster toys have there fun and just catch up. Pick a nice run next summer and you'll enjoy it. Not that I like pushing my car but when you don’t have the oomph of the works or S or the better suspension and brakes it still does not mean any less the fun. On the plus side its a new car you've got not run in so you dont want to be doing the like when the feel is even a bit new to you.

... Maybe we should do a mini pootle 3049 near Glasgow sometime:lol:. Big picnic. You're right though I'm still getting a feel for how the car handles, corners, brakes etc and trying to keep the revs down so maybe consider it at a later date. Or Mr Elf's suggestion of being a co-pilot.

Yeah yeah... The camera automatically timestamps the video. I reset it the day before the run - obvious in the fist vid. but when you turn it off and back on again it deletes the modified time file from the root folder on the card and rests the date back to 2008. no way round it without putting in another modified file every time you turn the camera on. It doesn't bother me.. the camera was a tenner off ebay! :p:p:p

Hi Duncan,

Jim, Martin & myself would just like to say thank you very much for organizing the run last Sunday. We all thoroughly enjoyed it and are looking forward to the nextone. Since we got back and cleaned all our cars we have noticed a lot of stone chipping, but it was worth it! So in to the body shop for our three minis!

On that note, if you or anybody in the club need any body or paint work done, JRM Coachworks would be happy to help. Obviously discount for club members.

MINIme, I'm always up for a bit of a Pootle, but I don't have to be 'desperate' do I? I DO have VERY clean shoes - however, I might have to be carried to the car to avoid what's left of our garden, which is (mostly) in the skip, but several bits of it have made a run for it... You don't know what you might be letting yourself in for. I am mostly harmless though, as long as you don't scoff all me Werthers! :hand:

Got Craigs clips last night on the TV, fantastic quality and I even enjoyed the wee yelp for joy when the Merc went up in the air I take it. Also enjoyed the Magic over take…. ;)

A wee bit of editing software to cut the time down and you’re onto a winner. Was there any software used for stability or was it just smooth on the mount? Anyway great effort and enjoyable. I was thinking back to some of the fantastic Mini views I had at the back on the Highland tour runs.

If I'm honest Stewart, I just didn't have much time to troll thro all the clips so I thought just get them up for people to see. I used the software that came with the sony camera called PMB ? Also the mount is the only thing I used, no software.. ;)
