Tell you what they are a bit stingy with the cash only 100Mil... you end up with a team but not anything like the one you'd want.

Always the same, the players who did well and were cheap last season always go up and become more expensive - you'll never be able to get the team you had last season, at least for a while. As an example, Hernandez has gone up by 3M I think!

Time to take some punts :-)

I put Suarez in as well, Not too sure on Carrol did well for my Newcastle but never worth thirty odd million. Charlie actually looks the part in what I imagine will be his role as the engine room for Liverpool.

He was taking free kicks as well, so you may well pick up bonus points for assists, not sure if he is taking corners as well. That may all change when Stevie G comes back.

It was always a bit of an odd move. He certainly has potential but if you look at the players who've moved for 30 million this summer it doesn't look like a great deal.

The Dogfather

It was always a bit of an odd move. He certainly has potential but if you look at the players who've moved for 30 million this summer it doesn't look like a great deal.

But £50m for Torres looks far worse. Torres sale price was always going to be £15m more than whatever Newcastle wanted in order to cover the Suarez deal, remember we'd already sold Babel for £6.7m.

It was in the last few days of the transfer window so Newcastle were able to hold LFC to ransom, who in term held Chelsea to ransom.

Andy's price wasn't dicated to by his value, more the events surrounding his move. Unfortunately that £35m tag has become a millstone around his neck for the press and ill informed fans IMO. He's a young player who needs time to develop and who needs to settle into a new Liverpool before he'll start to produce his best form.

This season he's already put the ball in the back of the net, incorrectly disallowed, and forced a number of saves. If you look at his stats in the Sunderland game his play was excellent.

We've spoken about this before i think, but 30+ million for a player with something like 20 league starts to his name is a lot just for potential (though arguably still a better deal than the £8m Fergie spent on Bebe...). No doubting he has ability, I wonder if Kenny now wishes he'd waited until the summer and just played with Suarez last season - would have picked up Carroll for much less money and less pressure on him, plus he didn't really play the rest of last season other than a handful of games.

Stewart
22nd August 2011, 04:53 PM
I think it’s a bit like free Money, Chelsea coughed up 50 million on a player that to me has fits and starts, he comes on form then it vanishes. Plus I never liked Torres as he looked like he has all the skill and ability but just lazy with it and huffy spending so much time walking about with a face like fizz.

Liverpool I think just said right we need a replacement and we don’t care what the cost is as Chelsea just paid us a silly amount. Plus it kept the Liverpool fans onside a bit.

The Dogfather
22nd August 2011, 05:36 PM
The point I'm making is that the silly amount was because NU wanted £35m, if NU wanted £15m then we'd have sold Torres for £30m.

Dalglish or Comoli wanted Andy and the Torres deal gave them he opportunity to bring his acquisition forward by 6 months

An absolute shocker for me this week, typical Charlie Adam :ragin:

In FF terms, Adam is too expensive these days for the quality he's got. Better value elsewhere, considering he was rated 6 last season, just because he's at Liverpool he's now a 9. Suspect his price will also come down, so I'd be shipping him out quickly.

In terms of your team, I'd be looking to beef up the midfield a bit as it looks a bit light, no guaranteed high points in there. You could also flog Vidic and go for a cheaper United option which carries a bit more risk to it in terms of playing time, but in the short term could reward.

Suarez is an interesting one, if Liverpool click he'll be in the goals but based on form just now he's on my potential chop list, but they've got some nice fixtures coming up (Wolves, Everton, Norwich, Swansea and West Brom, plus United but you can't have everything!) so may be worth holding onto. Augero is a bandwagon that everyone wants to be on just now, 52500 transfers this game week alone!

Stewart
19th September 2011, 04:31 PM
I got rid of Charlie last week as i thought he cost too much even being the good player he is. Liverpool look so shocking I'd not have one of there players in just now.

African cup mixed with two injuries are just killing me just now. I’d need to swap out five players…..

Time to use a wildcard, I've used both of mine

Your team will be getting a nose bleed - have they ever been that high up the league before? :D

Actually - you've 13 points sitting on the bench in Dyer as well, would have put you on a charge for 6th!

Whew, just noticed that Adebayour cannot play against Man City as part of his transfer deal, given that i had to sell Ba cause of the African Nations Cup and now Yakubu being suspended i've had to go into the transfer market again, will be an interesting week ahead

Not having a striker would be a slight disadvantage!

And turns out Persie's efforts gave you 23 points and 46 if he was your captain :thumbs up:
A high scoring week and for a change i was right up there with a decent 80 points.
Am beginning to get the hang of this game

I sold Ba when he went to the African nations cup and bought Adebayour, only gave me about 10 points total, so, have sold him and bought Ba again
Edit: And i get a nice 2.5m in the bank for next weeks transfer purchase

Poor show from the Chumps this week, but, managed to cling onto 6th place.

Next week Liverpool are not playing against Everton and with my injured Taylor from Newcastle I'll automatically lose points :ragin:

Well, had a bad time during the trip back to the UK cause i didn't really get chance to check the form of my players etc, but, yesterday decided to drop Larsson and bring in Walters :ragin: cost me 10 solid points :argh:

Decided last week Ba was just not performing like he did before the Africa Nations Cup, so, i traded him in for Cisse, result, Cisse bags a double in last nights game :soccer:
I had thought to transfer him 2 weeks ago, wish i did, i've now jumped above the elusive Greig

I'm stumped with 4 players in my team who are not playing this coming game week thanks to the cup semi finals, so, took the drastic action of making a transfer at a cost of 4 points :ragin: to leave me 2 non playing players in my team.
Managed to use my never used cheap subs, here's hoping for a surprise with this weeks games

I finally managed to get a little distance over the elusive Greig only to throw 4 points away, am hopeful that Man Utd have a clean sheet which will give me the points back providing Johnnie Evans plays this week ;-)

...Evans had a stinker Vs Wigan, had him in my team too. My chances of of getting to No.1 are slowly slipping away from me...(Where is Greig? has he completely vanished???)
