Following on from Neil's "3 Must Have Albums (http://www.newminiscotland.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?21802-3-Must-Have-Albums)" thread...

What would be your 3 Must have DVD's?

Very difficult to choose and I must have 50 or so I could put in here but as it's my own rules..

1. Local hero (1983) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085859/) - "Did you cook my rabbit?" IMHO, one of the best films to come out of Scotland - ever. Period.

2. Fargo (1996) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116282/) - "The heck dya mean?" - The Coen brothers best film ever.

And the final film, I could list The Shawshank Redemption (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0111161/), The Green Mile (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120689/), The Dish (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0205873/), The Dark Knight, (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0468569/) almost any Spielberg (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000229/) film, etc., etc.. basically any seriously quality film with depth, story, quality acting and excellent direction. but really, if I was stuck on a desert island, I'd just want a frikking good laugh. So, my third choice would be...

3. Mars Attacks (1996) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116996/) - "ack ack, ack, ack, ACK, ACK!" - One of Tim Burton's best, an excellent cast and so tongue-in-cheek it's painful.

Over to you guys..

1) Aliens: Personally Camerons best in my opinion. Done on a tiny budget but man, a great film.

2) Super Troopers: I hated it the first time I saw it but after a second watch I finally got it. Great laugh.

3) When Harry met Sally: A classic, what more can you say?

I'm glad i'm not alone on the Top Gun from Zimbo!!

1) Top Gun - Watched this film when I was about 5, and I put it down to my love for all things aviation!
2) Aliens - Again, watched this film at about 12 and scared the living buh-jesus out of myself, but love it non the less. "PUNCH IT BISHOP!!"
3) Leon - Just an unbelievably good film.

I was really temped to put the Italian Job in there, but at a choice between that and Leon, Leon just shades it!

THREE? THREE?? THREE??? Impossible. right... here goes:

Lord of the Rings Trilogy (does that count as one or the whole three?)
An epic tale based on the simple values of loyalty and friendship.

Battle of Britain
A fitting tribute to "The Few". Without the sacrifices of that generation, we'd never have had it so good...

The Italian Job*/American Grafitti (can't make up my mind) *Original with Michael Caine and his "Bloody Doors" - the new one with 'our' cars is good, but the original's the best!
The Italian Job. The best 'Caper Movie' with the best wee car and one of our best actors. Captures and preserves that fleeting 60's Vibe.
American Grafitti. Music, Hot Rods and Girls. Does it for me.

Can't we make it a 'Top 10'? Three's just too limiting - every time I type one, I think of another three brilliant films...
ps 'Goodbye Pork Pie' - had that on VIDEO years ago (still have it somewhere), great wee film!

My taste in films is pretty unsophisticated !
