Hi All,

I've had a few cars over the years and I currently own a 1998 Subaru Impreza Turbo UK spec thats running 254bhp with a few basic mods, It's an awsome car and I love it really, however having had it now for 2 years i'm getting a bit bored of it and the current fuel costs for a car that does less than 18mpg, Sooooooooo..... I fancy a "WEE" Change and I hope to be picking up my 2002 Cooper S sometime next week . I know a fair bit about Scoobys and a good bit about cars in general but if i'm honest i know HEE HAW about Mini's. So I hope you guys can bare with me and help me with any questions or ideas i may have for my wee beastie!

Cheers

Hello and :welcome:.

I know how you feel about the Scooby and petrol prices - I owned these three:-

They were absolutely fantastic though - I had modded the red bugeye to around 270bhp and 299lb-ft by de-catting the downpipe, prodrive back box and an Andy Forrest remap. It was rapid :thumbs up:.

I'm sure you'll enjoy the Cooper S - I totally love mine :yes nod: (missed the 4WD in the snow though :argh:).

Welcome to the site, I am also one of those who went from a 300bhp Prodrive tuned Scooby which was a beast to a MINI Cooper, that was 9 years ago this year (2002) and I am still driving minis now :thumbs up: and yes I do miss my Scoob, but I DON'T miss the running costs :frown:

miss it to be honest, dont miss the fuel bills or changing the rear tyres every 2500 miles LOL

you'll love the mini, never driven a road cooper s but it should be just as much fun to chuck around as a race one! :)

Ok so I picked up my MINI today and am/was delighted with it. It handles well and goes well and the build quality on these cars is great! They have a very solid planted feel on the road. However as I sat in the que at morrisons petrol station waiting to give my wee beastie a much needed drink. I felt a slight movement in the car followed by what can only be described as the sound of God Gargling Nails! The nearside silencer box had only gone and parted company with the rest of the exhaust! Aaaarrrgghhh! Took it straight back to the garage where I was immediately under suspicion of having hit the exhaust off something whilst driving down the road! Anyhoo after a few choice words from me they decided they would put it right so it's going back in tomorrow to get fixed! Spoiled my weekend though as I now have to wait until Monday to get the car back in a road worthy condition. I've calmed down a bit now and sort of looking on it as a blessing in disguise, as if it happened a few weeks down the line the garage probably wouldn't have offered to fix it.
