I have the site for that......

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Thats going from 195/55/16 to the above
The site has it as speed reading 5.1% slower so when your reading 60 mph your travelling at 63 mph

Fi, the largest change you are supposed to have is 3% from the stock tyre which on the MINI is 175/65 R15 the tyres you have are 7.2% larger.

Whilst the tyres may not rub you may find that there maybe extra load on the brakes and clutch.

You may also find that your insurance is invalid because of the degree of change.

Fi has 16 inch tyres, just making sure that you knew that in case it makes a difference

I asked the insurance company today and they told me as long as the speed rating was correct I would be ok. My car came with 195 55 16 tyres fitted as standard. I have bought them and will get them on this week hopefully my granny driving style will mean I have no problem either with the brakes of clutch but any sign of things not being correct in that department I will change over the wheels again.

Sounds like you got a pretty good deal. Price for Nokians for the 17s was £106 per corner

Had my tyres on since Saturday. Have to say I'm liking the look of more rubber less wheel. I know these are not the acceptable size for many on their mini but I am enjoying the extra side wall makes the ride a lot more forgiving. My road pilot and speedo are now reading the same mph. If I am doing 70 on the speedo that's the speed I am doing which is handy as I thought the speedo may have been under still got to be careful and not forget that the speedo is no longer reading higher.
