Just sat back and enjoyed it with a nice bit of cake and Coffee. Fantastic WWII porn. Think next year I'll head down to Duxford then back to that Kent site they were at the end.
I love this kind of stuff.

Just watched the McGregor brother last night on catch up. Superb programme, the original pilots you could listen to all day long & you could see what it meant to Colin flying the Spitfire. There is someting very special about Duxford (the vast museum & the history) & for those of you that are interested in this stuff you MUST get down there.
NMS to Duxford anyone  , d'ya think they'd let the MINI's up close to a Spit for a photoshoot :p

Now that might be interesting...... I'm sure if there were enough folks interested, we might be able to get some 'special treatment' at Duxford.... Hmmmmmmm. Maybe make this the 'NMS Big Trip' in 2012?
I loved all of the Battle of Britain programmes - 'First Light' (Drama/Documentary from Geoffrey Wellum's book) was brilliant, but the McGregor Brothers' prog was just top-notch, genuine respect and emotion and some stunning air-to-air photography. The look on their faces when they were in the Spitfire I'm sure reflected what all of us would have been feeling - lucky guys. Great bit also when Colin McG was with the B of B veteran pilot when they were treated to a display by the actual Hurricane he flew all those years ago. The whole programme was spine-tingling stuff.
There's a company called 'Action Stations' down in Kent which takes you up in a helicopter and has a Mk V Spitfire meet up over the White Cliffs of Dover and carry out a display all around the helicopter. Google 'Goactionstations' and you should get the site. Prices per person (from memory) vary from an obviously expensive £750.00/person (3 hours including Lunch and a half-hour display. Afterwards you get to meet the pilot, have a close-up inspection of the Spitfire, and get a signed photo etc), or £350 for a 20 minute display, and £180.00 for a 10 minute show. Lots of money, but you do get to fly with a Spitfire in those hallowed skies where they flew 70 years ago.... a once in a lifetime experience. Start saving now for next year!
