Got the Milltek Downpipe/Cat on yesterday, and although I've only driven it a fairly short distance so far, I'm WELL PLEASED! :thumbs up:;) It's going all the way to the south of Mull on Saturday, so it'll get a proper work out then (unmarked cars and mobile speed cameras permitting of course, Officer.... :hand:).
The Exhaust note under acceleration has a noticeably harder edge, especially so at low revs, and my JCW system 'Pops and Gurgles' a whole lot more now. I'm certain it's producing more power too, as was evidenced from the extra Torque Steer when I floored it on the way home. I reckon it must have added a decent amount of power, because if it was only a few of BHP you'd never notice it. The sound's not unlike the 'Factory' JCW, maybe even a bit more pronounced. Certainly more 'serious' than it was.
All in all, a worthwhile piece of kit in my opinion, especially now it's starting to sound like it goes. After a year and a half - the ELFMAN'S got at least SOME of his voice back!:bigwave:

Cheers folks! Forgot to mention that I think the 'wastegate chuff' is a bit more prominent too, but I could be havering...
Greig, you've got 'proper' JCW, I'm sure you'll be right.... behind me!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nah, mine's a 'Works in Progress', but it's fun to add bits and pieces as I go along and see what difference they make - it's the old 'Tuners Disease'. Also trying to get it to go like a JCW, but maintain the look of an 'ordinary' S (if there is such a thing) is half the fun!

Greig, I PROMISED myself in 2008 that I wouldn't TOUCH my R56, and just enjoy the car as it was.... SOME HOPE. I did hold out for about a year though. You've got lots of my "upgrades" as standard, so you've got less of an excuse! Your JCW is minted, so just enjoy it... BUT, remember, if you feel the need for the odd 'tweak' - it's still better than spending it on fags!!!!!
Next on the 'not touching it' list? The JCW Suspension kit.... when I get back from Mull. Did the same to the R53 and it worked a treat. Would have been done this week at same time as the Downpipe, but there was a hold-up with the springs (thanks BMW...). I can't help myself... once you start, you can't stop - because the bits you fit make the car better to drive, so you want to do more - NURSE, my pills!

Too true dude, well now having experienced the factory JCW all I'll say is get it to drive like that and you won't stop smiling.

The reincarnation of 'the Blue R53 orchestra' has started :thumbs up:
If you can even begin to get 'that tune' together then it's a :thumbs up: from me

Drove up to Oban this morning and got the ferry to Mull and then wheeched down to the south of the island. All I can say is that if you have an R56 S, you could do a lot worse than to fit this wee Milltek pipe. It certainly does the business in the Sound Effects and Go departments.
Crombers, it sounds good.... but not my 'Blue R53 good'. However, it makes a point without being too 'In Yer Face', and certainly sounds a lot more interesting than it did with just the JCW system and standard cat etc. The standard cat must be pretty restrictive despite the decent power figures, because the engine sounds and goes better all round with the Milltek - sounds almost like a slightly muted Mk2 Twin Cam Escort, but with that distinctive R56 'burble'. Just shows there are a few simple 'Old Skool' mods which work even on the fancy-pants new engine. I'm Lovin' It!

I just hope you're not all disappointed.
It doesn't have the full-on 'Led Zeppelin Live' soundtrack like the last car - it's more Page & Plant 'Unledded'.
Still good, but without the John Bonham drum thumpage. R.I.P. Bonzo!

could be very jealous gordy led zep are my absolute fav band of all time, just behind the mighty pink floyd and step......oops:blush: ;)
The closest I came to see Zep was the tribute band whole loada led who were amazing.
I don't know if you remember when they played a few years back and radio 2 were selling a pair of tickets for children in need.Well one of the hairdressers that worked for my mum, had a son who won the lottery. He actually bought the tickets, if memory serves me correctly he paid over £100,000 for them,:thud: I am not sure I love them that much:lol:

Must have be a different 'whole loada led' you saw from me then last year in Stirling as they were absolutely p**h :frown: We left after 20mins and went to the pub so the night wasn't a total loss:smilewinkgrin:

I knew a guy who's brother managed to get 2 of the tickets out of the draw for the O2 gig and sold 1 of them for over £1000:thud:
I've got a "copy" of the O2 concert:Whistle::smilewinkgrin:
Sorry ELFMAN for hijacking your thread bud...!!

No probs, if it's going to be hijacked, it could do a lot worse then be invaded by Zeppelin and Floyd etc two of my all-time faves.
Been reading 'Hammer of the Gods' (Zep Biography) when I was on Mull, and listening to tons of Zep while there - it's that kind of place! Saw Robert Plant solo, and Plant & Page together, but never got to see the whole band. I was just starting to go to 'big gigs' in '79 - 1st proper one was Motorhead at Glasgow Apollo (ticket £3.50) talk about jumping in at the deep end! It was ******* brilliant, never looked back! We should have a 'Fave Bands' Thread...
