I was in today and there was a nice GP "1624" sure it was, still a bit of Money for these all the same as I'm sure it was 15K. I'd have Rob's one just for the seats.

Very nice just waiting on the pic's..............

Will need to be nice to be better than the BEP., I liked that car. A GP in a different colour (mellow yellow / black roof) with different wheels (the ones on the BEP would be magic imho
Why does a GP have to be Grey, the colour won't affect the performance. Go for it Craig.

Am intrigued. Am anticipating something completely different because if its a regular colour it wont stand out as a GP except of course by a mini fan. Can't wait to see the pics. Only prob I thought of with the GP is the lack of privacy for storing anything but the smallest items in the car because of the lack of covered boot. Boots are good, they hide a multitude of sins.

Some of you may be thinking I have gone nuts....

Here is somethings you need to know... My JCW is still with me... Now tucked up in the garage as the weekend toy. You could say I have done a Crombers..! :thumbs up:

My mum is currently wheelchair bound, so I need a car to get her wheelchair around day to day, plus easy for her to get in and out of. The MINI doesn't fit the bill, but this does. I could have kept my dad's Tig, but it is more expensive to run, plus it is over 2 years old now and would have cost a lot more to run. This means that I can get about 40+mpg, about £100 road tax and cheap insurance for day to day and still have the MINI for fun.

VERY different to a MINI... ;) It is light on the steering, fairly gutless (but having 77bhp I knew that) and is nice and easy thro the gears... I would go so far to say the gearbox is better than the MINI.... Not had it out thro any bends yet, so don't know what it will be like on the bends... only 37 miles on the clock at the mo.... :thumbs up:

Stay tuned for a full feature on my 'Classic silver Pininfarina-designed Quattroporte' 1998 1.1 Peugeot 106 Zest 3.

When I've been driving the wee Peugeot for a couple of weeks (it's a great car for trundling about back and forth to work or for the shopping - I can actually get the messages in the boot!), getting back into the MINI's like road-testing a Porsche 911 - except the MINI's engine's not in the boot... which is handy, 'cos there's no room for it, especially if you've been shopping.... anyway you know what I mean.

The S feels even more special after driving an 'ordinary' car - makes you appreciate it even more. Nowadays when I'm driving the MINI, I'm usually doing a decent run, like NMS, going on hols up North or off somewhere visiting friends etc etc, which does the car - and me - a power of good. It can do the 'mundane' stuff perfectly well, but it comes into it's own when you use it for FUN!

Weekend toy, I'd love to manage to keep a weekend Car so it could sit in a garage looking awesome and only take it out in the dry :)
Man, I need a new job :(

New job!!! ................ na you don't

Here's the secret but don't go telling everyone ......................

What you do is go buy a MINI, simples enough so far eh :yes nod:

Then you go & pay for it 'in full', again not hard but may take you 12/24/36 ....... (you get the drift) to do so (roughly ). This bit can become troublesome as you may now need to get your MINI MOT'd & run around without (everyone ready....................)
A WARRANTY (some on here will by now have gone from slighty dizzy to 'passed out')

Then what you do is go by a Punto :thumbs up: to add to your fleet :thumbs up:
You dinna need to neccessarily go & buy a feckin brand new one but hey ho :hand: Craig's mum's special.
My wee Ferrari Punto cost me £2250 in September 2008 & is now 7 years old with 57000ish miles on the clock (was 39000ish when i got her). Mine has the 'brutish' 1.2 60bhp motor which propels it to 62mph in about ..................... 4th gear .
Just had her MOT'd last month & this time got 2 advisories :frown: (previous MOT's required feck all :yes nod: fook all). Apparently my front discs (why I say this I don't really know as there ARE only 'front' discs) are 'slighly' pitted and my back box has a tiny wee toty hole in it, hum ho
This year The FP (as we will now refer her as) went to Bristol & back. 80mph (sorry plod) at 3500rpm with the tranny up at volume 18ish .................. Sorted :thumbs up:

Whilst I'm at it, I'm still on the same steering rack, the same steering column & the same power steering pump that were fitted in the FP factory, so much for Fiat (un)reliability issues (that's me jinxed the thing now). Going back to the MINI I'm actually a tad unchuffed at the mo. B!oody rear pads need changing. Feckin light came on the other week/month!! Only got 65000ish miles out of the factory set. Fookin disgrace :ragin: compared to my wee FP

So there's the secret to everlasting motoring enjoyement folks, go buy a Fiat Punto :thumbs up: for everyday chores (& park it wherever the feck you want) then when you do go & get your MINI out for a spin it feels like a 612 Scaglietti (ish!!!!)

The Punto had not had a wax since Sept last year, so I thought it about time to do it again. It did still look pretty good tho, and that was just with regular washing :thumbs up:

So, gave it the works...

Foam Pre Wash
Rinse
Hand wash (2BM)
Rinse
Tardis
AG Super Resin Polish with DA
CG Blacklight by hand
2 Coats of Collinite 476S

I cant believe how good it came up..... :thud: :yes nod:

Also put on my winter wheels so my sister can use the car when her sleigh (sorry Merc CLC....) can't get out of her street.... :ragin: (the tyres are Nokian W+ for anyone interested)

Gotta say it's the best car I've ever had and tbh I'd have another one without a shadow of a doubt. Ive had a fair amount of cars over my time but it's the only car I'd be happy to buy again. It's been spoilt since the day I bought it and I'm happy that's it's gone to a good home .. I promised Craig I'd look after it and I'm a man of my word .. ;) Didn't want to part with it but have an opportunity to do something next year hopefully and to do it I had to make a sacrifice .. :(

As said on FB very nice. Even nicer that it was known and was in the NMS family and is now staying. Got to emit that my thought has always been these cars are bought mainly to drive them hard and enjoy but at the same time must take an absolute pounding. So finding a clean one is a huge bonus. Seeing this thread date was it that another GP fell through a few years back?

well, it looks like it will be in the garage for another day.... Directline still haven't sent my documents out and WILL NOT email them to me.... they said they will fax them to me today, but thats gonna cost me £9.54 !! I obviously said I wasn't happy that I have a car, paid for the insurance but can't tax it as they havent sent me the documents yet. I asked them to email me them, and was told "sorry we don't use email" !!

Ok, can you get me a supervisor? nope sorry they are all in a meeting.... OK, I want to make a complaint.... Yeah, that will cost you £9.54.... WTF !! If you pay the money, we will fax you the document now and your complaint will be looked at and we will give you the money back... - MADNESS!! Needless to say, I wont be paying the money, and I have left it with them... I have 3 cars insured with them, but that obviously means nothing to them.. oh well, their loss, I won't be renewing... :argh:

As the car is insured you could order the tax on the internet right now then go out for a drive. The car will show up as taxed on police database as soon as you purchase it online and it says on the tax online page that you may use the vehicle even although the tax hasnt arrived.

I could do Ian but there are 2 issues.

1 - the dvla don't know I'm the current owner as the paperwork only went away yesterday
2 - even tho the tax would be bought I could be fined for failing to show a valid tax disc :(

I'll just need to wait :(

The third issue is that you should always buy your tax disc at the Post Office. When the Post Offices close, you'll all miss them...

Yes but if you drop it to much then you end up ripping off the splitter on the front bumper and scraping the side skirts just like Ryan did so what's the point when you just end up wrecking the car !! And it will be worthless after that

Don't need to lower it as much as Ryan (his was too low for me), but I went from the JCW suspension (same as the GP) to a properly sorted set-up, and it's night and day different. Lighter 17" wheels and proper suspension make a mile of difference

Can agree with that I like the way mine is tho so am happy to keep it that when the shocks fail then i may uprate them but till that point it will stay standard

I'd agree that it can be improved (what can't, apart from Kate Bush in 1979?), but it still gives a very good account of itself on the 'standard' JCW Setup.

When my last UK JCW was at GTT getting the turbo conversion there was a GP in getting the same work done as mine, but, also a front mount IC.
Wouldn't go down well with everyone, but, boy, what a car it turned into ;-)

Also had suspension and other mods

The R53GP does come with run flats and yes I will be getting rid of them as I hate them. I will just be taking of the original wheels and tyres for a new set. They will be stored for using at shows etc ;)

And I will be making some subtle changes to the car but you'll prob not be able to spot them ;)

A GP is surely meant to look 'standard' (if you know what I mean), its unique & part of that is the alloys it came with.
Personally I see nowt wrong with them & they just shout out 'GP' to me

Will obviously have a re vote when I see what you do but I'm half covering my eyes at the thought :idunno:

The seats on the GP are the best Mini have produced....bar none. I would swap a set of JCW seats for the GP seats any time. IMO. The wheels....not to my liking, but it's a GP and that's how they should be. It's part of the package. There's a basic choice here, buy a limited edition and enjoy.......you don't own it........you just enjoy it until you pass it on to the next generation.
Or do what Galadriel's heir has done since the first dawn, "go your own way" and create your own "driving experience". Of course you can improve a limited addition, but what's the point......
I would love to change the colour of The Beast, but why ruin No 193 when someone else could love and treasure it, .......I could just swap for a standard JCW and "go my own way". If I can't live with being the custodian of 193 (in it's entirety) for the time being, then surely it's time for a total re-think.
Hope all of that makes sense......and then I think....Ryan's GP looks great, so what am I dribling about.....
We are all individuals.......thank heavens:shut up:
