Ok folks seen as this is being posted in the "only talk about mini's section" I was wondering how much our cars cost us to keep on the road per day.

Listening to some of the younger drivers, ie Ryan and his GP, it would appear that some of us really do spend a good proportion of our cash on our special ones.

Include any payment for loan/finance, average petrol per day, insurance, road tax, average cost per annum on tyres and servicing and repairs. (roughly), it might come as a shock to some.

oh DO NOT INCLUDE MODS, as this is an optional cost.

I'll start,

More than I though:

Greig £20.89 per day, roughly. (2008 R56 S )

Maybe a daft question  but how are you working this out:confused:
Cost of car + road tax + insurance + servicing + ??? = 'X' divided by the number of days owned = cost......or is it simpler than that:p
The mileage ours does I'll be luck if it costs me a £1 a day.....lol

Thats how I worked out mine.

Car loan per month x 12
Insurance premium
Road tax
2 tyres per year (average)
Yearly fuel bill

add it all up
then divide by 365

no service cost for me as under TLC

no depreciation just take into consideration items in first post.

So say for depreciation in one year £2200 including general wear and tear rough estimate
Road Tax £30
Insurance £210
Fuel £1100
Tyres £80

Total £3620 / 365 =£9.97 a day.

Well I’ll drop the depreciation as its 57 plate and the car was paid in full cash transfer on the day I picked it up, so no finance. Although I do need at least two front tyres or four non run flats so the cost will jump up a bit.

So say for depreciation in one year £2000 including general wear and tear rough estimate
Road Tax £90
Insurance £240
Fuel £900
TLC

£8.84 (with Depreciation)
£3.36 (Without)

Although normally I fill the car up every second week ( top up) £30. But then there is trips down south and up north and those pesky Mini runs……….I don’t mind the Min runs as the MPG jumps up and helps the costs on the Oban run the display was saying 54 MPG.
