Deeside Run Sunday Aug 8th

Right folks, for anyone thats interested in joining us for a Sunday run along Deeside.

Leave Asda Garthdee about 1530, along South Deeside road, through Banchory along through Aboyne and to Ballater. Through Ballater then up to Corgarff for a picnic stop and a chance for some pics. Double back to Alford then finish at Tesco Wethill.

If anyone has any suggestions please throw them in. Any help trying to sort this would be great. Again, sorry if stepping on toes but am a new Mini owner and would love to get involved in a few tours.

Tried to put a nice line on the map of the route however Google map was not playing ball.

There are no real hard and fast rules regarding organising a run, anyone is fully entitled to do it and it's very rewarding when it all falls into place and everyone enjoys themselves.
Having said that, it's a lot of work and can be time consuming for some.

The NMS run events are organised well in advance and dates are posted up for the intended run and folks simply add their name, as the year tends to get busy you may find that most all weekends are used up.

Good luck :thumbs up:

Only thing i'd say mate, is try to keep the run off mainroads and busy junctions. It's cool to drive up Union Street and show off our Mini's, but theres heaps of lights and could split us all up! Just a thought though! You could go up Union Street and re-group down at Duthie Park and out past goals?

I would suggest meeting at either Westhill or Culter, Culter might help some southerners....

Well initial thought was beach to Asda Garthdee. Chance for us locals to dodge pot holes up the town then meet anyone else who wants to join and chance to regroup and get fuel if needs be. But throw suggestions in. Asda may be good as we can just cross the bridge and head out South Deeside.

Right folks, here is a very basic plan of the route. If anyone has any other suggestions for routes please please let me know. This is an informal run and I have never done this before so any help is great. Hopefully the A939 is a good one to throw in. Stunning road with beautiful scenery. But let me know if its rubbish or anywhere you would like to add in or take out.

coopert21ceb
24th June 2010, 05:36 PM
Its approx 100 miles round trip. Driving time about 2 1/2 hours. (not with stops) As for food, well with it being a Sunday I was gonna see if anywhere in Ballater does a good Sunday Roast. Maybe the Craigendarroch. But get searching as I am up for any food me. Gladd to see we have the priorities sorted haha

The golf club is quite good for food or there are a few places, the alex hotel or there is an italian but whether it will be open at lunchtime, im not sure so there is a couple of other places to consider.

What date in August is it as i may be able to make an appearance for this one, the roads are pretty good along that way:smilewinkgrin:

Duncan and Helen you are more than welcome to pop up. Its a very informal run as this is my first week owning a Mini so I know nobody on this site. Good chance for me to meet folk. But I shall add your name and hope to see you in Aug

Not sure if I can make it, but I stay in Alford so I'll pop down to the car park at the very least to say hello!

Just checked the Transport Museum events list - its the Autumn autojumble that day. If you want to go, best to head through Alford between 9 and 10 (before the car park is full). Otherwise, head through late afternoon, when most folk have gone home

coopert21ceb
7th July 2010, 07:09 PM
Thanks for that fish. Probably be through Alford about 3ish. If your out and about anytime for a run let me know.

8th July 2010, 02:10 PM
Rights people. If this weather keeps up, would anyone be up for turning this into a picnic run. The photo stop outside Ballater is a perfect stop for a picnic. Even more so if the weather stays this nice. Plus Ballater is not exactly the hot spot for dining lol

coopert21ceb
25th July 2010, 02:51 PM
Well I may be working a nightshift the night before so may have to change the date but it would be great to get a NE run going. Will keep you posted over the next few days. If I am working nightshift we can either do an early evening run or change the date. Will let you know when I know.

coopert21ceb
26th July 2010, 04:57 PM
Right folks, still not sure if I am working the nightshift before so here is a suggestion. Either, a - you all go on without me and I cry all Sunday night or, b - We don't do the run in the morning but leave around 2:30pm and do an afternoon run. Let me know what you think. If folk would rather leaave it then I am sure we can do another run sometime soon. Be good to get some NE runs in the future.

coopert21ceb
27th July 2010, 04:15 PM
Hopefully the folk that are confirmed going will not mind me moving the set off time to the afternoon. If it's a nice day then it will still be good for anyone wanting to take some nice pics. Will get everything confirmed over the next few days folks. Looking forward to seeing you all.

coopert21ceb
27th July 2010, 09:08 PM
Right folks here is the final suggestion for the run.

Will be at Asda Garthdee car park (the open bit, not under the canopy) 1500 to leave for 1530. Route is still the same just a change of time.

Should take a couple of hours but since its a nice Sunday drive then no rush really. If folk want to take a picnic of some sort there will be a fantastic stop outside of Ballater to tuck in and enjoy the amazing view. Hopefully the weather will be good.

Hopefully everyone who said they are going can still come with the change of time.

Very informal drive so if anyone wants to suggest adding in somewhere for a stop on the way just throw it in.
