Since it's highly likely i'll be working in Gabon for a fair while i'm keen to learn the local language, French.
Anyone taken this up recently? any pointers to a good course, book, CD or anything else?

I studied French for four years at school, and used it for the first time last year in Paris. My advice, start by explaining your new to French, then try your hardest, they will love you for trying! (and believe me, in Paris, the French are extra grumpy so I was pleased lol)

There's an Podcast that is decent enough (and free) to get your started .... Coffeebreak French .. I did a wee refresh with thru it when I started a joint project with the French office last year. Their Spannish one is good for the basics too.

We had a sampler set of this guys stuff, which we really got on well with. Though my missus remembers so much of her school learnt French that I just let her order all the time ;-)
