Allan says thanks.

The last time he took pics of some swans he had a good bit of blow out at part of the swan, the guys over on some photography forum explained that swans were very difficult to take pictures of for this reason so he is delighted at the detail he has picked up in these pictures.

Great photos everyone :thumbs up:. The Swan shots are amazing, and that Goldfinch shot - wow!

I've not done many bird shots - here's one I snapped of a Long-tailed Tit. It's not very close-up but I liked the out of focus trees and branches in front of and behind the bird.

It is- it was a youngster (believe it or not!), and it's thought that it had tried to get back in with it's mother who had made home nearby. She would think he was after the cubs and thumped him one. We spent 3 days looking for that leopard and then on our last morning at 7am we were the only ones about, and there was this stunning animal on a tree. We stayed there for ages, just watching it as it took it all in. Loved it!

There are some awesome photos in that lot there WOW :yes nod:, Neil that must be some zoom lense you've got there, I could never get that close to take photos. As for those bear photos, I first thing I thought of was " GTF outta there..." those bears looked a bit too close for my liking :frown: especially with 3 cubs in tow :moonie:, great photos though.

You get herons on the Cart all the time - you need to look more carefully . It's amazing what you see on that river - I saw a Kingfisher from the ScottishPower car park on Wednesday, and there are Goosanders there too.

As for the photo, I used my DSLR from range with a 40-150mm lens then blew it up a bit on the PC. The heron was on the opposite bank and I was well back from the riverbank behind a fence - came out ok considering it was a quick snap while walking the dog.

Paul - your heron shots are much better though :yes nod: :thumbs up:.

Thanks to google for following:-
A group of swans is generally and generically called a flock of swans; but, according to the Oxford English Dictionary, the correct appellation is a wedge of Swans (when they are flying in a "V" formation).
