could be the timing chain tenchener or could be the bearing in the gear box or a sticky tappet

I'm here !!!!

Mine did have this prob...

It was diagnosed by eastern as the gearbox being the fault. They replaced it and the clutch under warranty. I believe it's a bearing on the input shaft that fails (or so I was told). Most think it is the clutch release bearing, however it would be the other way around, ie noise when the clutch is de-pressed ;)

Would they not just put a new bearing in your old box? We will see how David gets on...

Ye just wondering how much a new box is? Wats the chances of box being under warranty?

Fraser.

Right,

Car went in late afternoon and was diagnosed as a clutch control bearing from BMW.

Having the timing case gasket and sump gasket done at same time though

Hopefully get car back tomorrow :D

That cost an absolute fortune if you don't mind me asking or is this covered under some kind of warranty??

Livi

MINI AUC warranty.

I bought the car about 10 months ago and it came with it.

I would suggest doing the warranty company that others have suggested :thumbs up:

Well I bought my car private so I've got no chance I spose, thought it might b a recognised fault that mini would fix.
